Thanks to all for the pictures.

I thought the tower will have a concrete core. But at the core I just can see steel. At other towers, the concrete core is taller than the steel floors (when the building is U/C). How do they built the concrete core?

If Its the member I think you are talking about....I am pretty sure its still being erected. You can see the hook block and the hoist rope above it. Just to the left of the main hook block and above the working platform that is under the beam? Stands out against the building behind it.

Most concrete cores are reinforced with rebar, so the core is constructed first so the exterior steel can bolt onto brackets poured into the core.

1WTC's core is reinforced with steel beams, so the core and the exterior steel are constructed first and then the core concrete is poured afterwards.

It looks like 2 of the 3 pieces were fixed where the green arrows point to.

Obviously pieces that need some snagging work on them to fit. The one on the right looks like its a welded connection. The two on the left look to be bolted connections
The sheer size of the steel would make it very hard to get bolts in if something wont line up and it would only need to be a small amount out so as not to be able to get bolts through. Smaller structures you would be able to get some movement but on something like this its nigh on impossible to 'podger' as its called.

As for welded joints I would assume that all welded connections are tested after welding and if its not a good fit then it needs sorting properly rather than hacking and slashing to get it lined up.

Most likely someone will be on site doing all these snagging works as the structure rises. Hard to know how quickly these jobs are being done though through just pictures alone though.

Pretty much all steel jobs have snagging....just that this one holds such an interest for everyone and will probably be the most photod and talked about bulding ever and that means we are going to pick up on every little thing that dont look right!

Looking at the render of the base again, it looks as though the diagonals meet and flare away from each other a bit, meaning there might be a little more to go after this go-round before the office floors begin.

Where the diagonals meet there will be another one of those huge connectors, similar to the ones at the bottom.

yes one more level after what they are doing, then the fun begins. plus in the office floors it looks like half the steel is going to be used for the office floors then the base floors. So once the base is done, now from an expirenced construction worker my self, it then would take about 2 weeks per floor for the office floors.

I count 6 ohshits in that pic. One below the 2 on the left. The one to the left of the one on the right, and one of the white baffle supports.

Make that 7. The one all the way at the bottom below the ones on the left.

With all those diagonals and all the welded connections I'm not surprised .

The sky lobby is just like all the other office floors except for a large floor opening on the north side. The prints of the observation deck look exactly like an empty office floor except for the step in the floor slab.

Not on a building this size. All the ones on the left may be an error in the shop drawings or the one that fits really doesn't fit (too long) and the rest are correct.

520 Madison Ave had to have 7.5 tons of steel added to the trusses supporting the exterior stone cladding. A small error, the fix was just 2 steel plates, just 12 pounds more per truss. There were 1200 trusses !!

As you can see, the building turned out just fine.
