From this afternoon.

I'm really liking the crown more now. The light blue reflective glass makes for some interesting views. It reflects the sky and clouds differently than the rest of the building, so it really stands out. Today I noticed glass on top of the crown (the sloped part) reflecting the blue sky. It was just this little patch of blue on top of the building.

Here are those lights we were talking about. I'm still not sure if they're part of the decorative lighting, or if they're just construction lights. I'm kind of leaning towards saying they're for decoration, because they seem to be above any area where they'd be working on. I doubt they would help much with adding the glass or anything on the inside. I do wonder why they're turning them on now though. And I'm also wondering if they are for decoration, how they will replace the bulbs. They pretty much look to be on the very top of the building.

so the Austonian appears to now be lit on one side (facing east) anyone grab some photos? I tried to on my bike tonight, but wasn't able to access a high spot in east downtown.

Great pics. You have a good eye. Especially thanks for the Frost Bank Tower view of The Austonian. Nice top to bottom view of the tower.

What a wonderful tower, its so tall. I didnt know you guys were building this tall down there, and i love the colour on the curtainwall glass.

I tried to get some night shots Monday of Austonian's crown and the skyline from a few quick stops. I was in a hurry because it was late & cold, so most of them didn't turn out that great, but here's a few of the better ones.

From I-35 near Riverside

From Joe's Crab Shack

From the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge

The last two, I tried to zoom in a little on Austonian but they came out kind of grainy

I saw just the top of the crown lit on Saturday night, but now on Monday, it looks like they've lit that first horizontal stripe just beneath it. I wonder if all three are going to be lit?

Great pics. I wanted to get downtown yesterday for some pics too, but the cold kept me from doing it. I did go out in my neighborhood to get a few updated skyline shots, but my camera battery died after just one shot. Thanks for the pics, I was excited to see both of them lit. I do hope they have some lights on the north and south side of The Austonian. It's almost pointless to only light it from two sides, especially since most of Austin's population will either be seeing it from the north or south.

All the glass in the crown has been put on. And they're starting to light the crown now on the east and west sides of the building. I'm still hoping they light the north and south sides. These photos show the building from the south, and you can just barely make out the lights in the crown. Hopefully they aren't done with the lighting yet.

I love the current lighting. I think the intensity from that section is appropriate. I'm glad as well that the other two sections (I'm assuming the curved east/west facades and the vertical flat north/south pieces) are going to be lit. However, I think if the lighting is as intense in those sections it may make the crown overbearing in comparison with the rest of downtown. Hopefully they do something dimmer and more tasteful to make it blend. The tower itself as dark with minimal lighting interspersed from rooms, the crown as a middle intense lighting, and the top of the crown as intense. Gradations of light. Smart. Tasteful. Elegant.
