UNCLE WILLY'S!!! That was the best, affordable buffet in town. Now I have to go to the Royal Fork when I feel like standing in line and fast-grabbing food. Taste of Sri Lanka had a decent buffet too in the exchange, before they up and left.

Wow! Uncle Willy's! That brings back memories! My older brother and I would always end up there when we went to Victoria to visit our cousins! We thought it was great! Coincidentally, my uncle who lives in Victoria, we call Uncle Willy! ... No relation to the restaraunt, of course!

Saskatoon used to have a Chi-Chi's (I think). One of the Chi-Chi's in Scarborough (Toronto) eventually turned into a pretty good all-you-can-eat Chinese/Asian buffet, called Super Buffet (Markham Rd and Ellesmere Rd) If you happen to sit at a stall next to a window, you still see the "Chi-Chi's" logo printed on the pane.

The one I was refering to was when Jami Gertz was on her way to Winnipeg to film a movie. Craig Furguson told her to visit Earls.

I can't find the youtube video, but this was the episode I was refering to. Craig told her it was near the airport.

A chain I would love to see in Winnipeg is Western Pizza. I believe its a Regina based chain. Really good pizza.

I often agree with you newflyer, but not on Western Pizza. That is death in a box. The thickness of cheese outpaces the crust 5:1. Then, the beauty of cold pizza in the morning is shattered wit the towering stack of grease. Not my favourite.

Diana's in Winnipeg (or is it Diane's, I always get it mixed up) makes amazing pizza - healthy. Sadly, it is ridiculously expensive, but sometimes it's worth the treat.

If there is something I wouldn't mind importing from Regina though, it is O'Hanlons (although, it's not a chain - but presumably if one opened up here then we could call it a chain...). It's similar to our King's Head, but the clientele seems a little bit different. Both are absurdly large establishments.

Well, if we're going to speculate about US chains that aren't even in Canada, I would absolutely looooooooooooove... to have a Giordano's here (Chicago Stuffed Deep Dish Pizza).

Yeah it is greesy due to the excess of cheese, but the sauce is so damn good.

While we are at it, Triffons in Regina is also damn good. Not sure why but Regina is a great place for pizza.

there is one near vancouver - about 10 mins south of the border

in a small nothing town called ferndale - from parts of surrey its pretty quick to get too

well depends how long the border lineup is of course if its nothing you can zip down quick

Anyone that remembers the Jets and was over the age of 16 when they left should remember Chi Chi's. It was right beside the Winnipeg Arena (now a movie theater)

any pictures of that? even though silver city is a relatively newish development, i can't for the life of me remember what filled that space before. (i was about 13 when the jets left)

wasn't the final death knell for chi chi's the multiple incidents of food poisoning? I seem to remember lots of bad press right towards the end.

Nope. Chi-chi's was indeed at that location. It was a very popular pre-game stop when the Jets played. I miss that place.

Hey RTD do you remember the name of the other restaurant next door to ChiChis closer to St. james st. it looked like an old english pub and it was famous for the deep fried onion blossom.

^^^^Fingers - the place for ribs. That's where the players and radio personalities went after Jets games. Very popular spot, Chi-Chi's was right next door.
