thanks for posting those old toronto photos, that should give all us forumers some perspecitive on all the development that goes on now and which we take for granted, we come from humble skyline skycraper roots....

It's also actually the least flattering angle of downtown calgary - from the SE.

^you think? I personally hate the SW angle and even the NW angle due to the cluster of mediocre residential.

Direct north is hot, NE is good, and straight south is impressive.

I have grown to really like the SE view, I guess seeing it every day from home helps. What is needed is a couple of towers to fill that gap in the middle and get some of those parking lots along the rail tracks developed.

The bow and eap will bring some colour from that angle.

Best to worst IMO:

- North (anything from Rotary Park to SAIT/ACAD - amazing)
- South (from around Rideau Park it's amazing)
- NE (looks great from the airport and improving with the Bow quite a bit)
- East (from around the Calgary zoo over the Bow river is nice)
- NW (Further west than SAIT - but still good)
- SW (a bit of an awkward angle from places like Bankview, but still a good long view of the core)
- West (from say Bow/Crow interchange, which features too prominately the west end residential, which isn't that nice - from as far out and higher in places like Edworthy park, it looks great from the west)
- SE (not a fan from close or far away really)

There is a spot on the west side of 19 Street and 10 Avenue/Briar Crescent NW on top of the hill there, that has an awesome view. About 7 years ago, I worked at the old Shell across from North Hill, and I lived on 3rd Ave and Crowchild. I used to walk to work every day, and just loved the view from there on a clear day.
