At least, it is not -20 in Ottawa like in some other parts of Canada

Well, we completed the PDI on our PA unit, in HP II this morning. Everything was pretty good. Some minor flooring, chalking and paint issues.
There were four things we picked up that are more major. Charlesfort will be fixing these right away:
1. In the Master Bath, the accent tile (upgrade) around the bath and shower was not installed.
2. There was a small dent in our fridge's door. They will replace the fridge as the cost of a new door is as much as the whole fridge.
3. The wrong over-the-range microwave was installed. We upgraded to a convection microwave. The standard one was installed instead.
4. We upgraded to an air-jet tub in the Master bathroom. The installed tub may be one model down from what we ordered. They are investigating.

A couple of other points. The den measured 9 x 8.2 vice 9 x 9.2. The second bedroom measured 10 x 9.5 vice 10 x 10. However, the Master Bedroom measured 15.9 x 11.6 vice 15.2 x 11.2.
The Master bathroom seemed bigger than 8.8 x 8.7 and the living/dining room seemed bigger than 13.5 x 22.2.
The balcony looked unfinished (pitted and spray painted concrete). The Balcony is a common/exclusive use element and that will go through the property manager.
My parking space is narrow but my storage locker is big.
The kitchen is gorgeous. The view is great. All in all, we are quite happy.

The amenity room and gym look great too.

P.S. A hot water tank leaked and messed up the lobby. They are fixing the damage to the lobby now.

Hmm, another leak in a Charlesfort building? Hmmm, now I could have 2 reactions

a) I guess those things happen to all builders ...

OR

b) THE SKY IS FALLING, the sky is falling. Omg, look at that cheap craftsmanship and shotty work. Wow, I'd never buy a unit in a Charlesfort building - big lack of quality and over priced ... and they can't even get the options done right ... wow, what a lack of organization. Never buy from them ... .. .

Time to throw stones anyone?

I would reason with reaction A), unlike others especially when referring to other builders. Come on where are your reactions now? Biased anyone?

BTW: Johnny5, glad to see you enjoy your new place. I'm sure it is great in every aspect, despite then forgetting a few things. Congrats!

I must say that from walking up to the HP Towers, to inspecting my unit, to dealing with Charlesfort staff; the building just oozes quality, integrity and pride of ownership.

Oh yeah, I know ... my friend owns in HPI, sweet upgraded transparent bowl sink in the washroom, great upgraded cupboards and one of those nice tucked in patios facing Kent St.

I'm just pointing out some obvious flaws in other peoples opinions about other builders in Ottawa. Kinda hypocriticalllll I must say, but alas they are silent.

Again congrats, post up pics of the unit ... so we can all share in the glory!

AznHalf, you seem incredibly offended by people's opinions on a message board. It's a matter of taste. Stop acting like people have some kind of vendetta against Claridge. As long as you're happy with the builder that should me more than enough.

Silent reader, but I have to agree with AznHalf. There is an obvious bias of negative posts directed at Claridge. My conclusion is that most of these posters, are blinded by the aesthetics of the other builds.

For the record, I ended up buying a condo not built by Claridge. For all those who do not own a condo in a "pretty" build, there are sacrifices because of aesthetics. We pay, for your enjoyment of the skyline.

I imagine they will kick and scream on this if they think they can. Tubs are generally hard to replace involving tile and drywall work.

Ouch! that is over a 10% difference in space!

Both of these differences are reasonable variations.

We've moved in and are loving our new place. Once we got our furniture in, the space is way larger than we thought on PDI. Even my parking space is great! They are fixing the things we picked up on PDI. The workers are extemly friendly and professional.
As a former Claridge owner, I'll keep my opinions to myself. Let's just say the differences are night and day. Although we did pay for said differences. But well worth it in my opinion.
To everyone who will be moving into HP II, I think you will be impressed.

Just curious to know if they made you feel comfortable (while pointing out their discrepancies) during the PDI. Did they give you a time frame that you had to be finished or prevent you from bringing anything with you i.e. a flashlight

The Charlesfort team were friendly and thorough. They even picked up some things on PDI that I missed. I brought a flashlight but did not need it. It was in the morning and my unit has 10 or 11 windows in it and was quite bright. We took over an hour to do the PDI, but I could have stayed longer if I wanted to.
