its only plastic, its not like there made of gold.

Yes, but the pieces are molded to very tight tolerances, which is what makes them expensive. They are somewhat cheaper used though.

On November 12th, 2009, I displayed my Ford Building model inside the main lobby of the Ford Building for the occasion of its 100th Anniversary Party.

Photo credit: me (picture was taken before the party started).

I did get an offer to sell the model, but LEGO costs more than the potential buyer bargained for (unfortunately).

I am working on a new building but it is not a skyscraper (its a train station with a 7 story clock tower).

In addition to JSR's microscale skyscrapers shown above, the Michigan Lego Train Club has put up a LEGO city and train layout at the Henry Ford Museum. This display will be open from November 27, 2009 to January 3, 2010. If any of you happen to be near south-east Michigan over the Holidays, it would be a good time to visit the museum

Here's my newest Lego creation - The Sears (or as it's now called the Willis) Tower. Inspired by Jsr's mini scale creations, I decided to take on building the Sears Tower. It stands 3 and a half feet feet tall to the top of the antennas and is made up of about 8,000 Lego pieces

Spencer, I like your use of the sideways 1x1 and 1x2 trans black tiles to crate the Modern glass box look of the Trump World Tower.

Ersh: Glad to see you are still building. Is your Sears/Willis Tower taller than Spencer's micro scale version because you have more floors? It looks like you both used 2 plates per floor?

By the current definition of a skyscraper used on SSP (500 feet or higher, consisting of habitable floors, etc), I have only built one LEGO model of a skyscraper, the Penobscot!

Of course shorter buildings were called skyscrapers in the past. My newest LEGO building was never really a skyscraper but considering that the prototype was completed in 1893 when the number of 10+ story buildings in Detroit could be counted on one hand, the old Union Depot on Fort Street was a tall structure for the time.

DecoJim, my Sears tower is a slightly larger scale than Spencer's. I think we both have around the same number of floors, but the difference in height is made up in the mechanical floors and the floors above each setback. Even though it doesn't sound like much it probably adds about 2 inches there. It looks like his tower is 13 studs wide, where mine is 16 studs wide. It's hard to tell how much of a height difference there is in our models, but I was trying to stay as close as I could to the proportions of the actual tower. I really got the number of floors per setback by looking at pictures of the sears tower and counting the floors, though I think I may have one extra floor in the lower part of the tower (if I counted right).

Your Union Depot looks awesome, BTW!
