“Office buildings are our factories – whether for tech, creative or traditional industries we must continue to grow our modern factories to create new jobs,” said United States Senator Chuck Schumer.
I saw a lot of this building over the last couple of days and it really isn't doing much for the area nor the skyline within the area. 1166 6th Avenue (Int'l Paper Building) dominates it to no end.

It's the heart of Midtown, so it will take a lot to alter the skyline there.

Wow, can't believe how fast the curtain wall went up on this thing.
Yeah, stuff like this goes up very quickly, while the Tower Verre must await a decision by the skyscraper gods...

Probably best you don't, I got a good look at it the other day from 30 floors up in a building on 6th and 42nd, and I cringed. It's best that this 'skybunker' is swarmed by the 6th Avenue wall making it invisible.

Cassa Hotel Might Just Meet Our Desires and Open in April
January 27, 2010
by MsRebecca
What’s this? A New York hotel opening on or close to schedule? We don’t want to count our chickens before they’ve hatched but we’ve learned that the Cassa Hotel & Residences in New York is set to open in April. Last we heard it might be this summer, so this is welcome news indeed.
The futuristic-looking building on West 45th Street is designed by Enrique Norten of Ten Arquitectos and is part condo, part hotel—57 apartments and 166 hotel rooms. Cassa joins fellow Desires Hotels in New York, The MAve and Hotel Mela.
Rooms will include HD flatscreens, Boynq and Bose docking systems, Frette sheets and towels, Angelo Caroli bath goodies, and a Dean & Deluca stocked snack and minibar. Like they can at all Desires Hotels, guests can use the Your Desires guest-preferences program to get, well, whatever it is they desire.
One thing’s for sure: we constantly crave new hotels, so if Cassa hits its target and opens its doors in April, task one on our desires list will be taken care of.
Then we can talk about the spa …
