I wonder why the green development looks so different in those renderings. The shapes are not even close to what was posted earlier. The nahua tower would be great there, now just get Van Zandt going and there would be a sweet little cluster over there.

That Green site development link refers to Foster and Partners. They weren't even one of the five finalists. Trammell Crow was selected as the developer. I think that site is somebody's fantasy just like the Nahua Tower proposal.

Does anyone know what the four lights on the top of the Austonian's crown are for? Are they some type of future lighting feature, or are they just for the nightime workers?

I'm not sure. I noticed them tonight too. I hope that isn't the lighting design. I wouldn't mind them as part of a bigger design, but alone, they would make little impact.

Sandra Bullock was on the Jay Leno Show tonight. She was talking about her two businesses in downtown Austin. She said she likes preserving American architecture and reusing old buildings. They showed a photo of Waltons with the Warehouse District in the background. Besides pitching her new movie, she was also talking about what type of stuff they sell at Waltons.

From this afternoon.

I'm really liking the crown more now. The light blue reflective glass makes for some interesting views. It reflects the sky and clouds differently than the rest of the building, so it really stands out. Today I noticed glass on top of the crown (the sloped part) reflecting the blue sky. It was just this little patch of blue on top of the building.

Here are those lights we were talking about. I'm still not sure if they're part of the decorative lighting, or if they're just construction lights. I'm kind of leaning towards saying they're for decoration, because they seem to be above any area where they'd be working on. I doubt they would help much with adding the glass or anything on the inside. I do wonder why they're turning them on now though. And I'm also wondering if they are for decoration, how they will replace the bulbs. They pretty much look to be on the very top of the building.

I'm kinda thinking they might be aircraft warning lights. Maybe when the crane comes down they will be replaced with flashing red lights. They are not needed now since there are red lights on the crane.
