You must have a lot of seniority nativeguy1964 to have gotten such a high view apartment. Good luck! We look forward to seeing pictures of your apartment next year.

yeh I only have a little over two years actually. Theres just a lot of turnover here, for one and two, very strange, but the senior people who toured, well floor 8 was the actual tour floor... and so those are the apts they chose. they filled up the 8th floor.. as if not even thinking about the others. the rest fo them mostly chose the first couple of floors too, even the ones that face that alley. go figure. Anyhoo, I got my wish. Does that mean I have to do some kind of rosary bead thing or what lol.

This stretch of mission is starting to take on a whole new look , with the fed building, somagrand, and trinity, I mean I won't call it upscale, but you see it taking on a new look

nativeguy - nice to see some pictures from your block. Yes, a lot of changes coming. With the economy still in the toilet it may be awhile before we see it reach critical mass. My buddy here at the Fox is hoping for a Seven 11 - I hope so for his sake, but not my idea of an improvement to the neighborhood!

Wow great pics. thanks for those. Anyone else notice how the new building reflects elements of the old buildings mid century design.

Interesting thought...fortunately, it's done in much better materials.

yes the architects seem to have incorporated several aspects of the old building, the windows are split with part opening and part not, the cubed/stacked look where blocks sit across blocks ( see full project design)
The courtyard and lobby were transferred and updated, and the fact that some units exteriors are concrete squares and other are floor to ceiling glass, its a stretch, but its all there. The new project is simply a new version of the original - bigger and with better materials.

If anyone gets a chance to walk by and take a look or take a pic... wait till you see the front desk in the lobby.

The floors are made of charcoal colored granite with the tiny sparkles in it, and the outside sidewalks around the building match and the front desk is made of of that too. and I dont mean its a desk with a granite top, I mean it looks like the entire desk was chiseled off the side of the high sierra in one big chunk, and set into the lobby. The out facing front of the desk is raw/rough chiseled granite. Its truly amazing and must have cost a fortune. Its more amazing than any counter in any other condo in town Im sure.

For the first time in a long time I made it over here. Since the exterior is done nothing has really changed, but I thought I'd share my pix anyway.

The front desk nativeguy mentioned. It's very cool. Unfortunately, the glass is filthy and the sun was at an unfortunate angle:

With some of the neighbors:

Cool pics. I remember Nativeguy saying a while back he couldn't see the difference with SOMA Grand. Hopefully you've changed your mind Nativeguy?
