Interestingly enough, all my waiting room pages refreshed into the same "try again later" messages. So Vanoc has shut off that possibility, if there ever was one.

Quick. Someone rob a bank.
The bottleneck might have been within Telus network. Too many people tried to dial the same number(similar to 'denial of service' attack in web).

Some people on the official Facebook page have mentioned that they got to checkout, etc and then it kicked them out again. According to GamesBids phone callers are being told to call back later..

I'm never using tickets.com again. Not that they sell anything I'd want to go to. Their biggest event seems to be university basketball.

Bit of a leap to OLYMPICS!

I hope London 2012 is taking notes.

Tickets.com was used because Sydney, Salt Lake, Athens, and Torino used it....not sure how it worked then.

They'll just have exactly the same problems. When Phase 2 happened, I didn't get on until 3:30 and the site worked perfectly.

I'm HOPING it's like that today.

The press is now reporting that they have problems so they've passed the opportunity to just fix it and sell the tickets out without any further reporting. Both CBC and The Province have brief reports up . . . sounds like no one official is returning the network calls.

I had been thinking that it would come up and they'd just go on as if nothing had ever happened.

I still think the site may come up at any time, and they'll just sell out and go on as if no glitches occurred. But if it goes on much longer, I think it increases the possibility that they'll re-announce tickets for next Saturday. I still think the chances of that are slim, but a bit more likely now that the press is reporting on the issue . . . fairness of people like Yuma getting knocked out after selecting tickets, etc. The official facebook site has people who've been knocked out at all phases, including when they went to purchase tickets they had selected after finally getting logged in . . . and those reports were from 2 hours ago. Everything since is just people reporting no success at all. I'd be very curious to see anyone who can report a fully successful purchase including a confirmation today . . . I haven't found anyone who has reported that yet.

Did you successfully purchase anything, jlousa?

Olympic ticket site suffers 'epic fail'

Messages of frustration over an apparent failure of the Vanoc Olympic ticket website on the day of final ticket sales are piling up in social media avenues.

Users of the popular site Twitter are reporting that they've gotten close to a purchase only to have the site fail to complete their purchases, others have been unable to log in at all. Many users have labelled the situation as an "epic fail."

Many expressed pleas for Vanoc to let them know what is going on.

"This is atrocious," is how Suzanne Peters, a Twitter user from Toronto assessed the situation.

A Vanoc spokesperson said they would respond to The Sun's request for information soon.

That's ridiculous. THE SAME THING will happen. It happened during phase 1 & 2.

I very much understand your frustration, Yume. But this is a bit different in that it seems the system failed from top to bottom. It wasn't isolated events. It just seems that out the gate the system wasn't working properly.

I still think you should call and push the issue as far as you can with them . . . completely. There may be some allowance they can offer, giving you opportunity at tickets as they become available, etc. Plus I think it is clear they hold some tickets back. They even said on their official news release (now on the vancouver2010 site) that they are replenishing the few hundred (not hundred, NOT thousands) that did manage to be sold today. They are going to have the same number available next week while allowing those purchases to stand . . . so they must have a small pool somewhere.

My only point is it isn't correct to say this is just like the first two phases. This was, as others have said, an epic fail of the ticketing system.

Now I dislike the fact they are holding back tickets in a pool
