New TV series "V" filmed in Vancouver

This may very well have been mentioned somewhere, but I could not find anything. The new TV series V aired last night. It's premise - alien spaceships hover over the worlds major cities, as the aliens try to copperate with the world. Believe it or not, it's not at all as cheesy as it sounds.
It takes place in NYC, but is most definately filmed in Vancouver. It's quite interesting how they edited in New York. In one scene you see NYC from the other side of the Hudson, but it is actually from Londsdale Quay, looking downtown, and half of the NYC buildings have been edited in, while some Vancouver buildings remain.
There were many other comparable scenes, which as a vancouverite were interesting.

I figured it was filmed in Vancouver. Thanks for the confirmation.

BTW, it's not a new show. The original was from the 80's.

I'm undecided about whether or not I'll watch it. Only 4 episodes will air, and then the rest will air in MARCH.

Though, it is from the same people as The 4400, another Vancouver-filmed show, IMO the best Vancouver filmed show.

I think the original was filmed here too.

I am old enough to remember the original when it aired in the UK. The guy that played freddie krugger was one of the 'good' aliens.

it was filmed here last summer - there is discussion about it in one of the threads and someone took pics of the filming...

pretty good job of editing - it was kinda funny to see that they just seemed to plop new york buildings in amongst the vancouver shots instead of just using shots of new york

I remember it being insanely popular in the 80s, and yes, Robert Englund(original Freddy) was a 'good' alien. I'm surprised this original show isn't common knowledge regardless of age. Going by memory I think it was filmed completely in California.

This new series seems to be pretty much the same thing as the original, just visually different. A lot has changed since the 80s for this type of sci-fi, the X-Files and other shows have come along and changed things. I also can't see it being successful if they are going to show us a few eps then wait till March for the rest. First episode was totally crammed with info and rushed. It's like they wanted to really grab our attention and expose everything that's going on in the first ep, doing the opposite of recent shows like Heroes or Lost.
