Calgary's downtown is so small compared to the rest of that sprawling mess!

But their downtown is huge for a metro-area only 1.1 million in population.

Bob's just angry we don't have a 1000 footer...I don't get why that's need to insult our city though Bob...I think Calgary has a mighty impressive skyline!

^ Agreed. Calgary may have a terrible, terrible hockey team, but you can't touch their skyline

I love the Montreal skyline, but i really hate the big 4 sided white office tower. They should have built that as two towers, would have looked so much better.

You hate Place Ville-Marie? It's a classic. One the best International style building in Canada, if nost the best. It defines Mtl's skyline and is a icon at night with it's beam. It's pure class.

PVM is not the tallest, but certainly the most well-known building in Montreal. Most Montrealers think it's the tallest, actually.

I think it's a little massive, but good looking.

It looks like the dictionary version of what a building should look like, but with a lot more girth.

Best building in Canada no question. I love that thing. I guess I really love Montreal's architecture though.

^i've was always afraid of PVM, ever since i first saw it as a young punk. something nefarious about the rigid cruciform shape.
i've beaten that phobia now, -just like i've beaten anorexia! now i'm a svelte 460lbs! -jkng (about the fat)

I think it is really ugly, it looks like 4 buildings needlessly thrown together. What I think I dislike about it the most though is how it throws off the entire skyline, every other building looks anorexic beside it. It is far to thick to look good in the Montreal skyline IMO. If I blur my vision and pretend that it is 3 different towers in that pic (two twins in the back and a slimmer one in the front) it looks good.

DougCGY: I did'nt insult Cal., I said the downtown is very small in (land area) compared to the rest of the city! Reffering to the sprawl of the rest of the city. That's not an insult at all. It's a fact.... As far as a 1000 footer I don't care one way or another. What matters is "whom" makes the desision on how tall a building is (Gov't or private sector), check my past posts. Thank you very Much.....

Personally, I never liked a building that was trying to be liked by so many people...

"Hey, I'm an homage to the International Style, Met Life in New York.... No wait!!!.... I'm a salute to all-American Post-modernism.... No wait!!!!.... I'm a recreation of Rockefeller Plaza... No wait!!!!"

"You're a mess."

IMO the architect should have stuck with the "Rockefeller PLaza" look all around.

Man, you guys are harsh. PVM and 1250 are such beautiful buildings, it's hard for me to imagine a skyscraper fan not liking them, let alone HATING them. Oh well...
