You guys seriously- now the City Creek Thread is shut down?? Comrade doesn't post any more?? This sux. The inability for Utahns to respect differnt points of view is what keeps the place from reaching its potential.

City Creek was a kick — thread

People ask me all the time if I will ever be going back to Utah- and I tell them I don't know. I miss Salt lake City, I miss the mountains, but its this kind of — that I don't miss. And frankly is nice to live in a place where you don't have to hear it hashed out day after day.

Development is DEAD here in Vegas! City Creek is one of the few projects actually moving forward in the Mountainwest. Somebody restart the thread so theres some actual development news to read.

We can just post City Creek stuff here - what's the big deal? Or create a new thread. And why is Wasatch gone?

WASDEN - I was in Vegas over the weekend and it seemed like a lot of things were going up?

I'm guessing a lot of the stuff you saw going up are projects that have been stalled out for nearly a year now (Fontainebleu casino?). At least City Center was further along before the carnage hit. The meltdown in residential, and now commercial has not been kind. Currently we are second only to Michigan in unemployment! Michigan! I'm guessing any sort of economic recovery will lag in Vegas since we are so dependant on discretionary spending. Boom n' Bust is our M.O.

There just needs to be a more diversified economy, and with the huge metro out there, it's plausible. I saw numerous projects along the strip there, though I'm guessing many of them were dead as you mentioned - for now - I'm sure the real estate on the Strip is some of the most valuable and will be developed at some point. Isn't there also that big park development going on?

I think it was absolutely ludicrous to eliminate the CCC thread. It would of taken what, a couple of minutes to eliminate the original offense, and then a few of the followup responses. And why suspend Wasatch One? At least I would hope that Wasatch One is suspended for only a couple of days. It would seem that a far worse offender is given that type of a silly suspension.

Any of T-Mac's and other's incredible pics are all on the Comp. thread, and can easily be copied and placed on the main forum.

Sad to see the City Creek Center thread shut down. Sorry to hear about Wasatch. I really appreciated all his input in the threads. At least another thread was started for City Creek Center. Going downtown for pics in the morning and need a place to post.

On a development note, I am very glad to see the NSA spycenter going in at Camp Williams. Another 1.5 Billion dollar investment in the Salt Lake Valley. The news stated that up to 10,000 construction jobs will be part of this development.

Wow, I just noticed that with the old City Creek Center thread being deleted, my posts dropped by about 350. I had just hit 1,000 and now back to 650. Interesting.

I don't want to get us off thread, so could somebody send me a private message explaining what happened and why Wasatch was suspended?

Also, development is cool, I like development. Yeah, go development. Woot!

Also, this is my 300th post, and I've probably had only 10 insightful posts now that I think about it. I'm a bad person.

This forum is really going to pot. Now we've had our history DELETED. Zilich. Gone. Erased.

That's some thank you to T-Mac and others who've religiously posted photos for THREE YEARS.

I believe I might have a good understanding of what happened. There was all sorts of junk going on in the 'Irrelevant Thread'. Viperlord had to delete a lot of posts. Viperlord was talking with the other moderators as to what should be done. So, the Irrelevant Thread was finally deleted. But, I think this Brandon716 came in from out of nowhere and deleted the wrong thread: the CCC thread. I've sent messages to both Brandon and Viperlord to figure this out. I really think it was a miscommunication. Brandon said that there were a lot of posts that had to be deleted in the CCC thread. But, really I think he misunderstood. It was the Irrelevant Thread that had the problems. I have tried to get this clarified with both of them. I have requested Brandon to re-discuss this with Viperlord, and to reopen the CCC thread b/c of all the info we had posted there. I don't recall any problems in the CCC thread. Do any of you?

there was arguing going on in the CCC thread AFTER the Irrelevent thread was closed, I haven't been online since this morning, but basically a certain someone didn't think it enough that the irrelevent thread was shut down..or to ignore UB posts he didn't like.. and decided to let it get the best of him... and decided to get REALLY personal about it all.
That's what I saw.. but it was only like a couple posts but like I said it was this morning so I'm sure it continued for a bit and got out of hand... he was chucking a huge tantrum about getting people banned and shutting "people and their opinions" down...and guess he got shut down in the end.. I dunno.. that's the only thing I can figure..
They should have just closed the thread for a day or two to let people cool off and re-evaluate the situation.. there was a lot of information and work put into that thread.. and it's gone... that doesn't seem right to me...

You're basically spot on Orlando. Other than the occasional outburst from UB, which past posts and angry followups had already been deleted, there were no problems with the CCC Thread. However, once the Irrelevant Thread had been deleted it would seem that UB needed another outlet and chose to sling a major stink bomb on the CCC Thread. UB couldn't even wait 24hours after the deletion of the Irrelevant Thread. Of course, I guess it's no surprise, as many of local threads were regularly peppered with this incipid trash, and then subsequently deleted. I can understand Viperlord's frustration with the matter. In this particular instance, UB proclaimed that the LDS leadership is of course going to discriminate against those who would occupy City Creek.

The Original Quotes are below, which started the whole mess. About eight to ten forumers became very frustrated/insensed with UB. As is always the case, this rhetoric only escalated back and forth, and UB refused to back down or apologize. Subsequently, Wasatch One pointed out to UB that there were at least 9 forumers, and the list was growing, who wanted him banned if he didn't stop the inappropriate mud slinging. One moderator in particular felt that we had a mob mentality and had unfairly ganged up on UB.

Whatever the case, and frankly I hope I'm not banned or suspended for saying this, "It was absolutely unecessary to delete the CCC Thread." I will not argue with the many forumers that choose not to ignore the very constant, regular, loathsome and personal generalizations regarding their religion. There has been for quite some time now one and only one forumer who continually pushes these hot point buttons. He knows full well what the result will be. He has been repeatedly asked by all forumers, Gay, Straight, Agnostic, Religious and Non-Religious to STOP. He was continually reminded, that at the very least this was not an appropriate forum for this kind of rhetoric. Never, NEVER was the regular Mormon bashing STARTED by another forumer. EVERY TIME it started from only one source. To ask the many forumers to just ignore it, and give them as their only recoarse, to leave the forum, is very disheartening and WRONG. And then to add insult to injury, this forumer is given a complete pass!

I'd rather have a separate thread for CCC; there's enough going on in that one development to warrant it's own thread. Keep SLC for other downtown projects. If it's lean pickings for a while that's okay, but CCC should definitely stand on its own. We can pick up where we left off.

So I found where the City Creek Center Thread is. Brandon made a link in his new thread. Since all this druma happen while I was at work I didn't get to read any of the posts or what not. But shocker shocks it looks like it all started with UB's once again being a bigot towards to LDS Church.
