Notice the eye is drawn to the barge, as it is the only thing left with lots of colour. And it is a bit unfortunate the sun rarely shines on the north side of these buildings. I think it would make a big difference in a lot of pics.

looks no more colorless than Toronto or Montreal taken on a cloudy day if you ask me.

The photo also appears to have some editing done to it.

I honestly don't have much of a problem with our skyline. It is a work in progress though. There needs to be a push for more texture and differences in facades. I will refrain from commenting on some other Canadian skylines.

To be fair though I've only seen decent Edmonton skyline shots as night shots or HDR treated to hide the ugliness.

Some constructive criticism would be better than just saying my photo is 'quintessential Vancouver blah'. Like, sorry I didn't live up to the other photographers on here that I know are much more skilled than I, but I am only a novice with lots to learn.

oh, don't get me wrong... the photograph/skill is wonderful

but to me it highlights a very common vancouver day certain times of the year. It would be akin to a -15 winter day in Edmonton.

I actually disagree with that. I don't think anyone will argue that Vancouver has a nicer skyline, but that Edmonton shot is money!
