I think throwing snowball is quite a mild reaction when compared to the following news story at http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssIndustryMaterialsUtilitiesNews/idUSLC39149320091012. I found it hilarious.

BERLIN, Oct 12 (Reuters) - A German man mooning at railway staff in a departing train got his trousers caught in a carriage door and ended up being dragged half naked along the platform, out of the station and onto the tracks.
The 22-year-old journalism student shoved his backside against the window of a low-slung double-decker train when staff forced him off in Lauenbrueck for travelling without a ticket, a spokesman for police in the northern city of Bremen said.

"It's a miracle he wasn't badly hurt," the spokesman said on Monday. "This sort of thing can end up killing you."

Instead, dangling by his trousers, the man got pulled along for about 200 metres, all the while managing to keep his legs away from the wheels of the train.

The ordeal ended when a passenger pulled the emergency brake. Rescues services were called in, causing rail services between Bremen and Hamburg to be suspended for over an hour, delaying 23 trains.

The man -- unharmed except for cuts and bruises -- now faces charges of dangerous interference in rail transport, insulting the train staff, and may face sizeable a compensation claim for the delays he caused, police said.

"He was full of remorse when I talked to him," the spokesman said. "And he advised others not to try the same thing."

Reminds me of some idiotic kids I saw the other day at columbia stn. They were playing around getting off and on while the train was stationed. And then 3 of the 4 got on and the last one stayed off. So as the train is taking off the one still on the platform was running along side banging on the window and giving his friends the finger. All while being on the yellow line.

I'm thinking that kid deserves to be hit for being an idiot

Remember the convenience of those 98 B- Line displays (while it lasted)? Thankfully, TransLink has made similar displays available for the Main trolley bus.
A joint project by TransLink, City Of Vancouver, and the Federal Government, the displays are part of a Main Street transformation program, improving pedestrian and cycling across the entire corridor, called the Urban Showcase program. Unlike the 98 B-Line displays, these displays will not freeze/reset nor display inaccurate information. They would be quite similar to the ones on the Canada Line, except it utilizes GPS technology, built inside of all buses now. We are bound to see more of these in the future.

Nice addition . Translink should incorporate this into the E& M Line platform LED sign. They should also upgrade them the ones as Stadium are sepecially dull.

Yup, perhaps they can replace their current LED signs with the ones from the C-Line (and make them standardized)?

^ I can see how the Evergreen line will make those signs a priority to be added, since Millennium and/or Expo are going to become more complicated with the addition of Evergreen. The signs are fundamental to making the Canada Line make sense.

Not meaning to change the topic of discussion but on Oct 12, the Richmond Brighouse bus loop was forced to change its configuration again after some silly noise complaints.

Now there are buses back on Cook Road, and less on Saba road. The old(new) system worked so well because all the buses that headed in a similar direction stopped at the same bay making travelling easier, especially at night where frequencies are lower. Now it is impossible to wait for simultaneous buses since the bays are so far apart.

Two thirds of the lights at Broadway Station was turned off when I went through, it was pretty dark and eerie and cool at the same time.

Why? WHY!? Why didn't they add a train service to Whistler?

Why run hundreds of buses, with hundreds of drivers, on a busy road, in an icy winter time, when a train or two could do all that?

Because they spent 600 000 million on the sea to sky and nothing on the railroad so they have to show off what they built! (other than what they did not build).

The Olympic website at Translink is pretty sloppy work. Did yo notice that seaBus runs until 26:01? Also, that in the list of NightBus routes operating, N10 and N15 are missing.

SkyTrain expo line running only until 2:15am and Canada line only until 1:15am - that is really lame. Surely the system can cope with 24 hour running for 17 days? Calgary does it during the Stampede and Toronto subway regularly runs until 2:15am. And why have two different close times - it looks so confusing and unprofessional.

On the Whistler side, the buses also probably provide more frequency and flexibility with the ability to drop off passengers directly at the venue sites rather than having to shuttle to and from the train station.
On the North Vancouver side, they are using parking lots as assembly areas - I doubt there are similar parking areas near the North Vancouver train station.
Also the rail line puts all eggs in one basket - if the rail line is washed out or hit by a landslide (which has happened).
