Exactly, they dont bother me and I understand it is a way for a developer to get a little more square footage out of a building...the code has something to do with building overhangs, I cant remember it exactly, but it is kind of stupidly written which makes some common things to buildings harder to do, but makes these box like extensions a loophole...funny how that works sometimes.
We will see if this trend turns into something more, but for now it is just the new thing all the architects have to be doing until something new comes along...which is funny because that is what architecture school is like. One person tries something new on a model, then before you know it everyone is doing the same thing.
