This is a pic I noticed from a Phoenix photo thread not too long ago:

Check out the resemblance to 222 South Main?

Outside of the color of the glass, this building has no angular cut front...it does not have a channel of space between the front angles, no crowning glass.

Yeah, they are both covered with glass.

Check out T Mac's great images on page 70.

Please explain to me why people see similarities. Not trying to make waves, I would just like to know what I am missing.

But the design and color of the glass is almost identical. Obviously the building isnt the EXACT same shape, but even the crown looks similar. Also, this is a very new building in Phoenix - I'm guessing it was the same architect(s).

Well, I guess that would be the ugly cousin version. Thank goodness that non-descript piece of design didn't end up fronting Main in SLC!!

Is it just me or do the floors on 222 seem to be taller also? The windows on 222 seem to have more vertical length.

Duh... I was talking about the BACK view. The back of 222 does not have the personality of the front. THAT is what I was double-taking about.

Sheesh.... some folks really really need to get a grip. Sheesh...

Aaaaa.... C'mon now goldcntry, the coloring of the glass and the color pattern design is very similar to 222, as Tony pointed out. I think everybody pretty much assumed that's what you were talking about, not just Rick. The back of 222 really has little resemblance to the Phoenix tower, other than they're both boxes. Anyway, no big deal. The important part of 222 on Main is infinitely more attractive, as I'm sure we all agree.

Actually, the backs of both those buildingss are very similar. If you put photos of the back sides of both those buildings side by side, they would look incredibly similar. I agree 100% gold country. I think East2Westback has forgotten, or has not seen the backside of 222, and doesn't understand.

OK, the back of 222 is brick or stone...I cannot tell.. Even that part is not similar. Before you go off, It would be an interesting thing to know what part of the building you find similar.

So what part besides the bluish/aqua glass do you find similar?

Sheesh...

Thankyou! This is exactly what I was referring about. I would go on, but anything else seems like a mountain out of a molehill. As far as 'going off' on someone, I guess that particular tone is only allowed from east-coasters, so I'll attempt to refrain from any speech that may be considered 'going off' from this point onward....

blah blah... you just like stirring the pot and everyone on this board knows that. That guy did more damage to SLC's reputation than good.

I love this clip of Rocky. It shows how big of a weakling he is when it actually comes down to it.

Rocky Anderson love speaking just to hear himself speak.

I liked Rocky's politics and he did a lot for SLC's reputation OUTSIDE Utah, not with the legislature...

But I still think he was one of the worst mayor's we've ever had. In eight years, he didn't accomplish a damn thing. Seriously, his only accomplishments are those orange flags and back-in, angled parking downtown.

"The developer has leased 20 percent of the space for opening and hopes for a full skyscraper by the end of next year.

"We're having a difficult economy, but it's coming out of that," Billings said. "People are starting to talk to us aggressively about occupying the building next year." "
