Safeway at Aspen Landing opened up today. Royal Bank opens tomorrow

I really wanted to work at Safeway. Of course I was in Germany during their hiring fairs and now they've got excess staff to weed out the bad ones. Hum.

Can anybody help fill out the rest of the tenant map for Aspen Landing. So far I have the below. Mostly I have been trying to figure out where the restaurants will be. It looks like Redwater will be on the lower level of the building right beside the waterfall, 326. (Yay, patio!) My best guess is that Avocado will be beside HSBC (definitely will be a restaurant or cafe there) and that Broken Plate may be on the upper level of building 318, just a guess though (no patio.)

Vancouver is 4 levels too but the restaurant never seemed to happen

The store has 3 levels of retail. Accessories, cosmetics, and shoes on 1, Womens wear on 2, and Menswear on 3. Level 4 is not a retail floor, the escalators do not access it. I beleive there are offices and BOH space up there, and lots of space set aside for future Holts Spa and a Holts Cafe.

Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Hermes have nice shopfronts at street level.

CBC radio had a feature this morning on the state of retail in Calgary right now. They discussed the opening of Holt Renfrew and also stated that Cross Iron Mills has drawn over 1 million customers already which is pretty impressive although that will likely tail off over time.

sounds nice and looks nice - glad to see holt renfrew doing well - the old store here was too intimidating i think and the new store is quite busy and people seem to realize it has some "affordable" things at times they probably didn't bother to look before

how was the old location in calgary?

The old Calgary store was a somewhat dated agglomeration of interconnected "rooms" not unlike the old Vancouver store. Lots of brass and wood and rabbit holes here and there as a result of numerous rounds of expansions. The intimidation factor was there for sure..walking into a pint sized room staffed with one or two bored employees staring at you and breathing down your neck...those days are gone.

It will be nice to check out, for sure. I really disliked our current Holt Renfrew, I have gone there a few times but never bought anything. I usually do all of my shopping in NYC or Las Vegas. The prices are a lot cheaper, and the brands are a lot more plentiful. I'm willing to give the new Holt a chance, though. I dislike the Vancouver one, too. Everything is astronomically expensive (compared to the USA) and they cater almost exclusively to the Korean rockstar look, which, at the very least, Calgary probably won't. Sadly the last time I ever bought anything at Holt Renfrew was in Edmonton... they seem to have the most "normal" clothing for down to Earth non-Korean rockstar people.

Oh young one... Fun is going elsewhere to make the purchase, coming back all dolled-up and asking if you can get other items at the store where you actually spent your money, and finally proceeding to ask directions to the other store. To me, fun is not handing over my hard earned cash to pretentious assclowns but rather making them aware you have it but they'll never see a dime of it!
