Have this during the morning and evening rush, and give the handfull of busses doing it, signal priority. Furthermore, have it go down Cambie instead of the B-Line Granville.

To me, this would augment Canada Line yet provide crush rush flexibility that Translink could shift once people got comfortable with Canada Line and/or moved closer to work.

I am very surprised that Translink got rid of the B-Line so quickly. In a commuter-centric city such as Vancouver, why not have a modified express route (like I mentioned). I like that we have a new subway, but they either need to re-work the busses that feed/support it and do much better with getting people on/off the trains OR implement a crush express rush hour bus from the suburbs.

Translink should be ashamed to have people's commutes and transfers increase at such a high level. They should be making things easier (and or faster) instead of longer and more difficult. Such a strategy will only lead to Inner Richmond use of transit while the outer suburbs just drive in (why hassle with it all). ....
If you would pay them 65 millions to buy 100 buses that are only be used during rush hours and parked off-peak, and pay 7.5 millions a year to run them, then I'm sure they would gladly do it. But with 65 millions, I would rather choose to have 8 more trains for Canada Line.

On a side note, Richmond and South Delta only keeps about 45% of the bus running after the end of morning peak before Canada Line integration - one of the lowest in the region. No wonder the cost recovery is so low...

they haven't finished their friggin road yet - when they get that crapfest sorted maybe they can move onto the better things - driving #3 road is a pain still - how many years later?

After the Olympics, the buses are going to routes in Surrey and other places in the region that really need service improvements.

Had the pleasure of taking the Canada Line sunday from broadway/city hall to YVR.

It was pleasant, quick, and simple to navigate. Designs were clean, modern, and should hold up well over time. I would like to see more local art or cool ads in the stations though... they were a little devoid of life.

Platforms are way too small... it was sunday at 1140am and the west platform was 3/4 packed, i cannot imagine rush hour. Trains also were quite full and given a lot of people had luggage, it again would be interesting at a busier time.

Overall though a wonderful addition that I wish went to UBC (where our condo is).... transferring at king edward at 930pm for another 25mins bus didnt sit well upon arrival thurs.

Saw this public art right beside King Edward Station (station is wall to the left).

(Taken by me on Sunday)
I guess it represents car crashes or something...hence the dates? (they are printed on the glass in each box)
Here is a bigger version.

See, now that is cool public art for a train station! Not the ugly mess Emily Carr students put up in Broadway Station.

I strongly disagree with that and find it very insulting to those students. Just because one doesn't know how to appreciate art doesn't give them the right to say it's a mess.

I think we are confusing a few things with the art in Burrard Stn. That wooden board can be removed. The main art component at Burrard isn't that wooden board that's blocking the view of the fountain, but posted on the walls of the escalator run as well as one wall in the platform access area.

If one can not be criticized then they should not be an artist! To appreciate art is not to love every artistic piece in the world. If i think its —, I will say its —, and the art there is —.

The wooden plank is an ugly mess at Burrard Station, it is blocking a walkway, not to mention the view of the greenery and the fountain, only an idiot would have ever put it there.

Public art is great if it is not in the friggin way, that thing is essentially a wall slicing a room in half, notice that the statues near Denman were put on the lawn, not on the road?

The images along the escalators are fine.

It's a matter of respect. Since you are criticizing is the board that is in the way, then do so, but you aren't doing it properly. "The Art" is a generalization of all the artwork in Burrard and not just the wooden board

To do list while catting around at night:

- get rid of "art" boards
- get rid of bushes at Robson Square
- what else?

Does anyone still have the diagrams of the elevation cross-section of the C-line? Interested in looking at this again and comparing with my senses now that I've taken the line atleast a dozen times.
