joe nieuwendyk is the dallas stars general manager, he's no longer in toronto.

If anyone here doesn't already know, we've started an SSP hockey pool. Anyone that wants in, just let me know and I'll PM you the league info.

Ooh boy, not quite sure how to let you down easily, but you're in for a disappointing season.

I think most Flames fans are indifferent to the Rangers. I mean, we've played them 13 times. Ever. Hard to develop any hatred for a team you never see.

I think we can all agree to hate the canucks though.

Hey look at this picture of the Sedins at the Stampede this summer:

Food for thoguht.....

Flames have not won a season opener since 2001. Kiprosoff has never won on opening night. Calgary and Vancouver have squared off for their respective season openers 4 times in the past 6 seasons - the Canucks are 4-0.

Is Calgary due to break the slump, or does the trend continue..........

While I do think the Flames will have a better start to this season than they have in years past, I'm not sure it starts tonight. I really can't say who I think will take the opener.

Did anyone have flashbacks watching the flames in the retro jerseys?

I saw #12 on the ice and I immediately thought - there's Loob! I had to just double check online for Loob's old number, and sure enough. I was 7 years old the last time Loob played for the flames, but that old Jersey brought it back in a heartbeat.

awesome.

Fun game - although a little worried about defense.

Had dinner at Olives prior. Neat place.

The good thing about the pourus defence was seeing that Kippersoff is still excellent... silver linings, silver linings.

I couldn't resist letting out "LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOB!" every single time Iggy touched the bloody puck! I had to ask myself a couple times "what the hell is Jamie Macoun doing playing in goal?" and of course, Conroy was wearing Pepper's old #24.

Yeah, it was a great game to watch!

I only had that problem with Kronwall wearing #8...I kept wondering why Risebrough was playing again, and why he was playing defence.

I hate them. My bro lives on Long Island and the Rangers remind me of Real Madrid.

They just make it so damn easy to hate them. I'm so happy that Burrows chipped his tooth!

No. I couldn't watch it on-line. I'm either going to have to learn how to re-route my IP address, or cough up 69 quid for CI on ESPN360. I don't know if I could justify the latter.

I'm voting that we switch to the retro jerseys as our standard jersey. They looked AWESOME last night.
