it is a garage, a human dog house. it can be pretty, but like I said, the space, its location, its definition, especialy the look is what made my conclusion. but i have to respect everyone's taste, so it can be a paradise for some.~

where is the washroom and kitchen? How woudl u fit all those in a one or two car garage?

I think we can have the entire backyard built into another set of housing, bringing us directly to the living of japan.

It all depends on your lot size, but generally, one can build a one car garage + 1 bedroom two floor lane house, with parking on the side.

When people can't afford it anymore, then people will stop buying and prices will come down, if that doesn't happen it's because it is affordable.

It's kind of like the local saying about Granville Island, no one goes there anymore it's too busy.
This is simply not true; it's only "affordable" because of historically low interest rates combined with much looser lending standards than has historically been the case along with the government of Canada (GoC)--i.e., every single taxpayer, renters and "homeowners" alike--guaranteeing that the mortgage loans banks have given out will not come back to haunt them. The GoC has been in the market (via CHMC) purchasing more than tens, if not hundreds, of billions of dollars of mortgage debt from the banks.

When, not if, but when people are unable to continue to afford their mortgages as interest rates rise and more people lose their jobs, the banks will be fine but the government will be left with assets that are worth a fraction of what they paid for them. All of this thanks to Mr. Harper and his pals who care more about their political careers than the proper stewardship of the Canadian economy.

Great! Now for the rest of Vancouver to get rid of the dumpsters. Whatever happened to the plan in summer 2008 to get rid of all the dumpsters and instead have much more frequent garbage collection?

Just like everything else probably caught up in bureaucratic red tape

...and the spaces are now all reverse-in spaces.

Apparently there's supposed to be some YBIA project where Yaletown businesses and restarurants take their garbage in bags to a central location - possibly the alley next to Yaletown Park.

Also - full traffic light has been installed at Homer & Helmcken - waiting to be activated...

I noticed that light yesterday. It is quite needed. Anyone travelling westbound on Helmcken has a hard time seeing traffic coming north on Homer.

This city paves its roads with broken promises.

That Homer / Helmcken was very much needed for pedestrians as well. You couldn't really be seen in the crosswalk until you stepped out into it. Without a light, traffic moved at a good clip along that stretch. That is also the intersection that inexplicably had no pedestrian crossing markings on one side of the intersection though it had clear ramps leading across the street where one should be. Hopefully that will be remedied as well.

Both Homer and Helmcken should be "traffic calmed" streets like in the West End. I understand the plan is to make Helmcken into a greenway. Homer should get similar treatment because it similarly goes from nowhere to nowhere; so it's really a local street unlike say Howe or Seymour.

A big piece of art in that intersection would work well to slow cars down and give the area something interesting to break up the street.

Homer has been calmed quite a bit since the days when it was a one-way street. It gets jammed up quite a bit at Smithe.

Northbound Homer provides a valuable link since the closest northbound through-streets from Pacific to Georgia are a distance away depending on your destination - there's Seymour (which is always clogged) and on the other side of Yaletown, Cambie Steet. Richards is southbound and neither Hamilton/Mainland Streets nor Beatty Street reach Pacific Boulevard directly.

i saw someone last night take a wrong turn onto a one way street last night - i love people how ignore signs they are there for a reason telling you not to turn left

anyway is the park expansion just off davie gonna start only when the rest of the buildings get torn down? so will it be all rubble for the lympics?

Has anyone heard any info on James Schouw and Associates lately? I hear that the company is in financial trouble and that his long term private investors are sqeezing him hard? I'm even hearing rumors of potential laws suits and liens against the company for its new future project. Not sure what's going. Anyone hearing anything

Anyone knows what’s going on here. Is it a Chevron expansion, a new gas station or none of the above?.
