The last part of the crane at Trinity Plaza was removed today, Aug. 29th 2009. A couple of pictures from the 28th & 29th below.

Also, the crane at the construction site (senior housing) at 9th St. between Market & Mission is being removed today, Aug. 19th.

it really is a better looking building than soma grand. The colors work better. They change with the sky whereas soma grand always looks the same color - the wrong color, for san francisco.

selection and dates of move in

hey nativeguy (or anyone else who knows),

was wondering if you can shed light on this for me. we have the tours for selection in oct. there are two move in dates - jan, and apr 2010. will we be shown apts. for both move in dates to make our selection? (will they only show us apts from floors 3-12 - so that we'll have to choose one of those and move in in jan?)

thanks.

They are showing us the apartments (models) on the 8th floor. The first set of move ins are for 3-12 as those will be ready to move in in january.
if you choose from those, you get the 100 bucks and the earlier move in.

they have not yet decided, as of the last time I asked, whether they will let you choose from floors that are not ready to be shown.

Really it depends on your seniority, if you think you have enough several years worth, you can try to wait and get floors above 12, keeping in mind that move ins for those floors could go as late as june of next year.

The tour will take place on the 8th floor. In this neighborhood, anything above the 6th floor has a view above surrounding buildings. The 8th floor represents a full variety of units. most of which are close to identical with minor differences size, closet size and window configuration. Only someone obsessive enough to bring a camera and measuring tape would even notice the differences. ( note to self: bring measuring tape)

Until they build the rest of Trinity Place--which I hope won't be that long.

it will be a couple years for tear down. then if they are ready based on economic conditions they will start on the market street portion which is larger and more complex than biulding A, so at least two years for that- plus they plan to make some design changes that will have to go through the processes.

so market street is unlikely to be completed until 2015 at the earliest.

( keep in mind that they also asked and were granted, an increase from 15 to 20 years to complete the project.)

so the west facing views will not in all likelihood be blocked until 2020 or later. considering the average san francisco renter stays put for about 6 minutes, it won't matter much to those moving in now.

Curbed SF confirms what nativeguy already told us about tours starting. And they included a photo from our own Jerry. Nice shot!

The Rush Begins: Trinity Place Starts Residents' Tours
Monday, September 21, 2009, by Andy J. Wang

The multiphase, 1,900-unit Trinity Place project began taking future residents on tours of Phase I this past weekend, on a seniority basis. According to a reader, Floor 8 was set up for tours, and people are making their unit choices now. If you'll recall, part of the deal in building the enormous project at Market and 8th was that developer Angelo Sangiacomo would allow current Trinity Plaza residents into Phase I at their existing rent-controlled rates— before completely demolishing the building to make way for Phase II. Thus the recent gold rush to get into Trinity Plaza, a not so cheap ticket ($1,975 for a 1-bed last we checked) into the brand-new Trinity Place. (Of Phase I's total 440 units, 360 will be rent-controlled.) Occupancy's set for Jan. 15 of next year.

Bummer! What were your impressions? What floors were your choices on? What made you pick the units you did?
