Like I've mentioned before, I don't mind tolling or reducing lanes if other transportation modes are improved. How is it fair to put a toll on Knight St bridge when there is hardly any transit? The 405, 407, and 430 is hardly decent as they don't come that often. Yes, there's the Canada Line, but that doesn't serve the districts around Knight.

Transit is only one part of the puzzle: providing Park & Ride facilities that allow people to choose to ride transit is another.

At least in London, they have underground lines and countless buses that connect people into the city centre.

This option should be explored immediately, especially with the Evergreen Line. Right now, since the Provincial Government took control of the project, they are exempt from property taxes and municipal regulations. If we are having a funding issue now, have this pay for part of it.

Agreed.

For the most part, this has been done, other than in some areas of COV. Again, the real estate opportunity can be applied here.

Another reason why we need a Regional Gov't level. The current governance structure and relationship between TransLink and the Ministry is quite murky.

Even with this governance structure we still get mayors sticking up or their own municipality as opposed looking at the big picture. A couple of weeks back Diane Watts said something to the effect that she would not vote for more funding unless Surrey got it's Skytrain extension. The political oversight fro Translink should be directly elected by all residents of Metro Vancouver.

Thanks for that. Love the illustration diagram of Coquitlam Central, but it just illustrates the need of another at Lincoln to serve the area.

What I don't understand is why the Coquitlam Centre station is placed alongside the rail tracks. Why not build it on the west side of the Lougheed Highway there, right before it turns east towards Poco? You'd get closer to the mall, closer to whatever they end up building on the Coquitlam Chrysler property (TOD anyone?), and still be right next to the West Coast Express station. I don't get it.

I think Lincoln will get built. It is listed as a future station anyway. I don't think they can get Coquitlam Central Station close enough to Coquitlam Centre.

They eventually plan to densify Pinetree/Barnet around there, perhaps it's easier to keep the transportation hub where it is right now.

I love how Evergreen will start off with higher frequencies than Canada Line combined. lol.

Thank heavens! To do otherwise would have been mind-numbingly stupid and short-sighted.

It would be most ideal to have the station located on Barnet Highway, just where the guideway goes over the road in the rendering....basically, on top of the road. You'd have two entrances: one for the mall on the north side and one for the transit exchange on the south side. It would be similar to Lougheed and Main Street stations.

lol, i know eh? It's awesome.

Don't forget about the 80-metre platforms.

I'm guessing the Millennium Line's frequency will be doubled as a result with Evergreen trains starting from VCC. But what will happen to the Millennium Line between Lougheed and Columbia remains.

The station is located way too far from the mall...looking at Google Maps, it'll be at least a 300-metre walk! In contrast, Lougheed to the mall is less than half of that.

Wow 3 minutes frequency,,,

Those Tri-Cities residents seems finally win a transit lottery (though it is late for almost 15 years), they are guaranteed to get a seat in the morning rush hour.

Nice rendering. But what's with the three-car WCE train? Not suggesting shorter WCE trains are they? Or was the artist just too lazy to draw the other six cars.

I agree the station would make more sense over the Barnett Highway. The ridership figures seem very high - what year is that 2020? That's 10 times what the useless 97 B-line carries today. Don't forget WCE will still carry most of downtown Vancouver traffic. In fact, the SkyTrain may make the WCE more popular as people can take SkyTrain to Port Moody and then WCE to Vancouver. I think 40,000 per day is more likely.

From the looks of the plan I have on my Google Earth maps, though it is slightly out of date I'm sure, they plan on putting another station right beside the mall named Lincoln station. However, as stated, it may be out of date.

I was going to make the same comment about the short WCE train as well, hehe.

I agree that the Coquitlam station is in a terrible spot, if they ad any station it should be the Lincoln station, for if built it will be right in the middle of the Coquitlam commercial district.

...and right next to where most people live in the area. Now is the time to convince Morguard (the owner of Coquitlam Centre) to build some towers in its parking lot.

BTW, the three towers at Westwood Village are missing in the drawing above supplied by Mr. X.

I think this looks a little better:

Okay I might have overdid it on the buildings, but you know what I mean. They don't all have to be residential: there should be at least two towers for businesses: think Metrotown and Metro Towers.

Lincoln Stn, of course, is still needed.

The station is too far away from the bus loop, let alone the mall. I'd love to see it on the east side of the property along the green strip, plus stubs heading East and South for future expansion..

Well that's why I think the bus loop should be moved closer between the SkyTrain and WCE stations. It's actually possible to create a more "village" style atmosphere within this small area.

I think we all agree that Lincoln Stn is needed for access to Coquitlam Centre.
