^ I went out the Richmond Centre on Monday and when I crossed #3 only one lane was open in either direction with a lot of construction going on. Traffic was almost going no where. But it was nice to cross though. No worries of getting hit.

As for the richmond routes. I don't think they got any new buses. But the reason the frequency increased is that their routes are shorter which means greater frequency.

And how's the road repavement coming along in Richmond? Where's in No.3 is it taken place now?
I've been saying that Richmond is in desperate need of more buses for the city. I'm not sure why they haven't been given more buses, and Translink should really consider expanding some of the bus routes in Richmond, and their frequency, if they want to encourage more people to take public transit, the service better be efficient, if not - people will take their cars, instead.

So how much could we reasonably expect UBC to chip in?

Lots of people who go to Richmond don't use the public transit, and that's why it's so hard to get them off the road. They are people from the North:Vancouver, Burnaby and several communities South of Fraser.

Great idea - I was thinking about it myself when I went out to UBC last week and saw how much they are growing the campus.

How about all costs from Blanca west (ie, across the UEL and UBC proper) plus a proportional share of the OMC, trains, etc? Just like the Airport, which paid for Sea Island.

If UBC can, I'm sure they will, but their funds are really lacking right now.

Would be a pretty good reason to boost UBC UPass prices by $5 or $10 / month.

Blanca West would cost at least half-a-billion....to put that in perspective, 40,000 students are having their tuition hiked gradually over the next few years (starting this year until near the end of the next decade I believe) to pay for the new hundred million dollar Student Union Building. The fee will eventually be increased to something like $250.00/semester just to pay for the new building's construction costs.

Media/Industry Advisory - High Volume Weekend at Vancouver Cruise Ship Terminals

VANCOUVER, Sept. 18 /CNW/ - Vancouver's two cruise ship terminals will be experiencing unusually high passenger volumes this Sunday and Monday due to the arrival in port of a number of large capacity cruise ships.

On September 20th approximately 14,000 disembarking and embarking passengers will be moving through the Canada Place and Ballantyne terminals, and a similar number is expected on the 21st.

The following Sunday, September 27th will also be extremely busy at Canada Place, when an estimated 6,300 passengers are expected to arrive and depart through the terminal.

The increased demand is due to the large number of independent travellers aboard cruise ships scheduled to depart Vancouver for repositioning cruises. Repositioning cruises occur at the beginning and end of the Alaska cruise season when cruise lines relocate ships from and to their southern winter itineraries.

As repositioning cruises tend to attract a larger number of independent travellers, who do not have prearranged transfers to and from the port, there is a corresponding increase in demand for taxi service. In order to minimize congestion, given the significant number passengers utilizing these facilities, Port Metro Vancouver is advising those coming to the terminals to make transportation arrangement in advance, and to consider alternative transportation such as the new Canada Line to YVR.

It is also particularly important that arriving passengers do not come to Canada Place cruise terminal prior to their scheduled embarkation time in order to avoid further congestion while disembarking passengers are leaving their ships.

Port Metro Vancouver asks for the cooperation of all those involved in order to minimize delays during to this particularly busy period.

about the 41st avenue b-line, i said that before, i hope that translink can introduce the b-line for 41st avenue and extended to brentwood station.

few stops are okay, but we need to think.....
high traffic, like......
1. ubc,
2. dunbar,
3. macdonald,
4. west blvd,
5. granville,
6. oak,
7. oakridge station,
8. main,
9. kingsway,
10. joyce station,
11. bcit,
12. brentwood station.

but...but... if we can withdraw west blvd and macdonald, that will be faster.

because at macdonald and west blvd, there is few cars and that is easy to be withdrew as b-line.

Between Main and Kingsway is way too big of gap without having another stop. You are essentially by passing three major north south routes. The number 8 on fraser, the number 22 on knight and the number 20 on Victoria.

Besides also missing out on the commericial area of fraser and Victoria.

Knight where I live I agree is not as busy though. Would love to have a stop there but if not oh well.

Elliott and Rupert are needed... Rupert, actually, has been requested by many commuters for some time now. Victoria and Knight as well.
