^great pic.
yes, that is very 'consistent', dense urban fabric.
is that (generally) townhouse flat roofing we're seeing.

yes, those roofs belong to 3 and 4 storey triplexes and commercial buildings in the plateau and centre-sud.

must be a roofer's heaven, montreal. flat roofs are tough to maintain especially with the temperature shifts year after year after year...

^ The colours —. Some people really don't know how to use HDR (in fact he does, but the tone mapping is a disaster), that's beyond my understanding.

On a purely personal level I would not want to live in this "fabric".

I would. Those neighbourhoods easily beat suburbia and most other inner city neighbourhoods on this continent. Block after block of 3 floor stone row houses, with vibrant streets, and retail. Yes, please! Not even Toronto can match Montreal when it comes to tightly packed, beautiful residential. Toronto has areas like that here and there, but not like in Montreal.

Boston maybe, and some areas of New York probably, but those Montreal inner city neighbourhoods are awesome! The 'plateau' being one of my favourites. These parts of Montreal are fabulous. They're elegant, beautiful, and urban.
