Haven't thought it through yet, it just came to me.

What about razing the Shilo and building a new convention hotel on the same spot with architectural aspects on the first six levels that pay homage to the Dooly building? Not a replica but a dignified representation of the building and it's historical significance to the city.

Yes, the O.C. Tanner building looks great! I'm going to go by there and check it out today.

What did you all think of my theater configuration? Basically this design gives you the options of preserving all Main Street Buildings and preserving the old Newspaper Agency facade on Regent Street. This design also creates a seamless flow for a pedestrian walking down Regents Street and includes a lot of rentable retail space to help financially maintain the center.

I know how much you guys enjoy seeing Salt Lake in films, so I figured I'd share this trailer for a indie comedy called "White on Rice" which had quite a bit of it filmed here. Although, I am not sure whether or not the actual story takes place here. There is a shot of the lead character running around the corner at Main and 300 South, another inside the Wells Fargo Center where you can see the top of Utah One, and I believe the last shot is inside Abravanel Hall.

It opens in California tomorrow, and will also be in Hawaii and Utah (Century 16 in SL and Cinemark 16 in Provo) on September 25th.

That last shot is at the Wells Fargo Center as well. Those stairs come from floor 24 to 23. There was a scene in there from inside the library and Liberty Park as well.

Cool. That looks like a decent movie. Several other scenes in SLC: nursery scenes at beginning are inside cactus and tropicals, 15th and 15th is in there, the dinosaur park in Ogden, and an outdoor scene looks like some greenery at the U.

I saw White on Rice at the Salt Lake Film Festival last month. My friend is the director. The entire film was shot on location in SLC, and yes, the film does take place here, altough they never say exactly where they are. There are scenes on Trax, and all over the streets of the city, as well as all the locations others have mentioned. It's actually a very funny movie, and I'd highly recommend it.

I just got back from the O.C. Tanner building. It's quite impressive. Very beautiful. It's really cool to see some of these projects completing now. My friend and I went over to the food court after and caught a meal. I was interested in his perception of the food court, because he's never been there, knows very little about the CCC project, and couldn't really care less about urban development and stuff. He thought the food court was very nice and inviting, and was impressed by the project in general.
Also, they are now installing some interesting light fixtures in the food court, leading me to believe the decor is far from finished.

Can anyone direct me to the photo's of the interior of the City County building that were posted on here sometime earlier this year. I figured it might be easier if someone remembered rather than going page by page.

...Besides the Goldman expansion, the board on Thursday also approved a $169,900 tax credit for blood management company Haemonetics Corp. for a proposed facility in Draper. The company, based in Braintree, Mass., will spend $17 million to establish a West Coast manufacturing facility for its blood and plasma processing consumables in Salt Lake County.

The company expects to hire 154 new full-time employees in the near-term, with 220 workers at the facility by 2014, the release stated...

This is great news for the area. The best part of the story is that Goldman is looking at space in downtown at 222 S Main. That will increase the occupancy rate and should increase the need for another commercial tower within the downtown area.

I like the lighted tower also and would LOVE to see the potato on a stick get the boot.

Only the part of the structure that houses the restrooms is windowless. If you look at all the renderings one more time, you'll see that at least half of the ground floor facing 200 south is all windows.
