Thanks!
That pool enclosure looks new - it wasn't on the renders that we saw way back.
Hopefully the slow pace is due to focussing on the heritage building and the unique nature of each of the first few floors in the podium. They should hit the office floors soon and then they'll slow down for the transition to the residential floors - but there look to be some loft floors between floors 14 and 22 - so that'll slow things down too (in addition to the varying floorplate due to the angled facades). Don't expect this tower to rise quickly.
It looks like the pool will no longer be right over the main entrance way(with the glass floor). If so that would blow cause that is one of the coolest aspects of the design.
Nice to see how the project will compare to RBC and 1133 when looing down Georgia... going to be quite the canyon of a street if the viewcone policy changes and the smaller office/hotel towers are torn down for bigger ones.
Wish the images were in higher quality so I could see what those lines were for up top, but it's certainly much better than nothing.

Here are a few renderings from a concept study that was done prior to the current design (but after Bing Thom's involvement). I think this design included hotel and retail on the lower floors instead of the current version which has office.
The current design is a vast improvement, though I would’ve preferred no balconies – at least on the side facing Georgia.
The flat roofline works well with the old hotel, but the new design has more flare and the angles work better with the other angled rooflines in the area.
Why does that logo look like the Ritz-Carlton logo? Guess they were trying to attract them.
Noticed a concrete pump being delivered to the site today (same type as on Capitol and Patina, but painted green) - hopefully that'll speed things along.
I hope they have some form of a logo on top, and if not a logo, let us hope the proposed lighting effects go through and we will have a true night time pinnacle for our skyline!
Man, are they keeping the lighting affects? cause the old rendering was wicked sick.
Well if that is what was submitted to the UDP then they have to... I jsut hope it is as striking as what was originally proposed, becuase aside from the lighting I find this tower pretty mediocre.

Aren't decisions by the Urban Design Panel non-binding? On the City's website it says that "the Panel is strictly an advisory body and makes recommendations only."
UDP is non-binding but the DPB is, to date there has only been a single project that has received DPB approval without getting approval from the UDP. (at least to the best of my knowledge.
Given the height, size, and central location of this project, it seems ironic that the architects could not have capitalized on the (relatively) classy exterior of the Hotel Georgia, and come up with something a little classier and interesting. What they are building is OK . . . . but OK . . . and really nothing more.
