it think maybe out of the three supertalls it was the most reasonable. Depends on what you call a bargain.

Yes, Intrepid, thanks for catching my vague wording. I meant for the top of the market, Waterview (I thought) offered the best value for your $$$ and excellent $/sq foot for what you were getting....and the amernity packages were also viewed as superior. My bad.

^Actually, you are correct. Waterview's extensive amenities and quality of finish were superb with heated wood floors, Poliform kitchens unobstructed floor to ceiling views, full amenity floor with pool, outdoor deck, private entertainment room, workout, etc.. The Hotel had it's own amenities as well and were seperate from the condominiums.

The value at the time of the first offerings was quite incredible. I put down my deposit 5 years ago (this is not a typo) on a 40th floor unit that was approximately $440/s.f.. The same unit sold about 5 floors higher up in June of '08 (even as construction was halted) for approximately $650/s.f. I believe that at the time these were both good values for a high quality development.

Did you get your deposit back? And if so, did you request it, or was it voluntarily returned? I'm curious if they have given back all deposits. My wife and I would absolutely love to buy in this building at some point if it's ever finished in it's current proposal. The location, amenities, and florrplans are exactly what we're looking for.

I asked for my deposit back this spring and it was returned through escrow with interest in just a couple weeks, so I'm out.

I am sure there are some who still have deposits sitting there, but at 1% interest and no movement on the building it was painful to watch any longer. I agree with you about the project and I looked for a long time before I put all of my hopes in this thing. It was a huge disappointment and I probably waited too long to walk away.

I don't know if Teng is trying to go in different direction with Waterview or what? This scheme looks pretty conceptual so I don't know how realistic it is. From Big, Bold, and Visionary:

The studies for a tower explore the effect of views on height and form. The base responds to the street and restricted views while creating separation from the adjacent building. The middle transitions from public spaces (parking, office, hotel) at the lower floors to private (residences) above. Thinning the middle pushes valuable floor areas to the higher floors and allows expressive forms.

^Why would you want to build that awful thing? The justification behind the design is laughable at best, and represents nothing that the sketches attempt to show. It is a big fancy hat, nothing more. I wouldn't mind it so much if they didn't perpetrate it as trying to do something that it isn't...

Hey, it's a huge breath of fresh air to me! Personally I love the design, plus it's a possible sign that something decient will hopefully go there after all.
