How would Flames fans feel about a possible Ray Bourque situation for Iggy? He plays majority of his career with us, but in the last year or two goes to a cup contending team so he can win it? Would you be mad at him for leaving, or feel that he deserves a chance? This is of course assuming that the Flames won't be a cup contender for the rest of his career, which might not be the case.

I'd feel sick to my stomach watching that...yes Bourque deserved it, but I don't think he earned it. He wasn't a very integeral part of the team. The Avalanche could have won without Bourque, but he couldn't have won without them.

Big difference is that he signed a contract to provide his services to the Sens for a specifeid time. He can't just walk away from that contract and play somewhere else, just like any one of us who signed an employment contract to work somewhere can't just walk away to work for a competitor. Yes, he can walk away if he is willing to sit for the remaining length of his contract but he can't play elsewhere.

I agree, but if Ottawa isn't holding up their part of the deal, why he is expected to hold up his? Don't get me wrong, I think Heatley's made himself look like an idiot over this, but I think it's funny that we as fans say he's un-Canadian for wanting a trade. I think that's a little far.

The Bourque thing was just about the most classless thing I've seen in pro hockey, and I've followed Sean Avery's career pretty closely.

Sorry, but hopping on the gravy train doesn't qualify someone as "earning" sweet diddly in my books. If Bourque wanted a cup so bad, maybe he should have thought about getting away from an abysmal team years earlier.

Iggy seems genuinely happy here, and in large part IS the Flames these days. To cheapen that ... eh, I wouldn't be mad, just rather disappointed.

The only way I think I would be disappointed or upset about it is if we traded him to a cup contender and then the Flames made it to the final that season and lost to Iggy's new team. That would be a kick in the teeth.

As for Bourque, he earned his cup playing on a Boston team that made it to the cup and couldn't beat one of the best dynasty teams in all of hockey. Not to mention all the first and second round exits he contended with as a Bruin. I don't blame him for wanting to play for a contender in his last couple seasons. Though I will admit it was hard watching Ray hoist the cup with an A on his sweater and not a B.

Gotta say - I don't like it. I suppose there's only so much you can do with the Flaming C though.

I understand the retro thing and all. The Oilers did it last year too and I don't like that jersey either, and I'm an Oiler's fan.

The retro is good for 5 games a year. I've wanted the Flames to do this for a while.

The only other option I'd accept for a "third" jersey, is a modernized retro, using the same red as the new unis, modern stripes, but having a white flaming C.

If they bring him back for nostalgia value, then poo on the team. I don't think Sutter is that stupid though.

I really wish retro jerseys would die. Next thing you know we'll see Jets jerseys in the desert (the ultimate sacrilege), and I'll have to go on an 80s style post office spree. What's next, everyone wear their Hypercolor and Chip 'n Pepper in the stands?

Wow, no love for the best player to ever wear the flaming C. Fleury was my idol growing up and I would love to see him go out the way he should have, wearing a Flames jersey getting a standing ovation from the crowd.

Jerseys: I like the old colours. I don't miss black on a jersey, and I hope that the next third jersey doesn't contain any (or maybe just a little) either. And I like the retro jersey idea - a little bit of nostalgia is good for the soul.

Fleury: I love what he did for the Flames (especially given the adversity he faced), and I'd love to see him make a successful comeback to end his career properly. I don't think that it will be with the Flames, nor should it. We're a different team now. In the dark years it would have been amazing for the team and for the fans, but now we've got a roster that I don't think that he could crack.

... And I don't see Sutter doing anything like this in a million years.

If everything aligned just perfectly, I'd support having him sign a one-day contract and dressing him in an early or late season game to give him the standing ovation that he absolutely deserves.

Ah, Theo Fleury's rookie card. Came in the same set as Joe Sakic's. Back in 91-93, when hockey cards were all the rage and were going for outrageous prices, I ran a card store and did many a show. We made a fortune on the newer, more common cardboard (which is now just about worthless due to massive oversupply) but the 89-90 O-Pee-Chee/Topps set was the last of the old-fashioned, low print run cards. Also one of the very last to contain bubblegum in the packs.

Other notable rookies in this set are Trevor Linden and Brian Leetch.

I wonder where all those rookies are playing today.

Seriously though, if the guy can cut it, more power to him. So long as he can move the puck enough to warrant a spot, and isn't a distraction with his "off-ice" activities, I'd be happy to have him.

Then again, hockey to me has never been a soap opera, nor WWF, or anything else the Americans have tried to turn it into. If you can play, good, if you can't, get off the ice. Everything else is entirely irrelevant.

I think Fleury will get to play a few games later in the season, the rest he will spend in Abbotsford.
