Kiehl's- cool. Would be nice to get a dedicated Origins store too (not just the little version at The Bay).

At Chinook, Phil and Sebastian Coffee will be opening their third location- "third" assuming that they'll be moving with CFM in 2010; their second location will be in Shops of Marda Loop and they're looking at a late Sept-early Oct opening there.

say what you want open CrossIron Mills, the place shouldn't have been allowed to open until they had proper accesses built.

In fact, it should now be shut down until such a point. HWY 2 was stop and go traffic in all three lanes backup up south of Stoney Trail when we went through to Airdrie at about 1. (all due to the traffic backed up in the right lane) At 2:30, on our way back, Northbound HWY 2 was backed up an accident (accident likely caused by backed up traffic) just North of stoney Trail, but traffic appeared to be backed up until at least Airport Trail.

Embarrassing that they let the place open up without proper access.

Wow, I can't believe they scored a Chinook location. That investment is going to pay off I think. I never go to Chinook, so this doesn't affect me, but I was in Vancouver a couple weeks ago and fund an Artigiano inside a London Drugs. It's nice to get a quality product like that so easily.

I have to agree, although I think this may be a temporary thing. Traffic from the Ring Road (which should pick up 1/3-1/2 the city) hasn't been backed up that much - you may wait for one stoplight - and the exit off northbound Deerfoot HAS NO STOPLIGHTS.

Point being, I think this is a brief blip in traffic caused by rubberneckers from the south, who likely won't make this trek in such great numbers once the new factor dies down.

My biggest concern is the 566 overpass - no way is this thing ready to handle the regular traffic the mall will see, let alone when the expansions come. That area will see huge growth in the next 5 years; the province needs to be putting in a new overpass NOW.

Well supposedly the developer and province were to have signed an agreement to allow the developer to build a new overpass south of the mall, which was being fully funded by the developer. I was under the impression the 566 bridge was to have gotten widened as well, mostly from how they stripped back the grass and leveled the ground on either side last year.

Good to hear about another overpass, and yeah, I thought 566 was going to be widened too. Especially considering the work it's seen over the past year or so (east of Deerfoot it's very nice now).

Maybe that's next on the plan...

So happy Aspen Landing is nearing completion (almost). I can't wait. With Best Buy, and Aspen Landing opening up... the area just got so much more convenient.

By the time I'm back in October it may all be done

The wife and I went out to CIM yesterday, we drove straight in from the west with no delay and it took about 10 minutes to get on Hwy#2 northbound to Airdre when we left.

I liked the mall but it's sure lacking the stores that originally were supposed to open there like: Brooks, Holt, Holister, Nike, Reebok, Old Navy & AE... not to mention Bed Bath & Beyond needed to be double the size. I'll still definetly go back once the hype is over.

CIM is really starting to quiet down a bit, today was about half as busy as yesterday, which was nice for me.

I was just in Vaughan mills for training before CIM opened up. The A/X there is grossly horrid!!

some of the worst inventory I've seen.. and that mall.. REALLY outdated, cheap looking and tacky. VM is $hit compared to CIM.

For shits and giggles I went on the Vaughan Mills website to see what kinds of stores they have... Armani Ex, Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Champs, Hugo Boss & Old Navy just to name a few that's not on the Crossiron list.

I'm guessing CIM will appear the same in a few years time. Heck to most of us it is already tacky.

A neighbour on Bowen was telling me she was at CIM on Saturday. She said it wasn't as big as she thought it would be and she was disappointed with the mix of retailers. She had planned to stock up on some PST-free deals but didn't see anything she wanted to buy.
She really liked the section of Stoney Trail NW that she was on to get to and from the mall.

I thought Crossiron had a great mix of retailers. Brooks Brothers is still opening there...just not til 2010...Same with American Eagle

dont forget that the entertainment wing is still being built, with Silvercity and 3 restaurants. Also the hotel that will connect the mall to the casino and horse racing track and all the retail developments surrounding the mall. Sucks that the HR last call & NASCAR speedpark pulled out from the original plans
