Temps atop the Austonian should be simmilar to those in the upper elevations of western travis county. Maybe 2 or so degrees cooler durring the day. Maybe 3 if the mixing of warm air at the surface dictates. Artic air masses are shallow in the Austin area. Hence the ice you guys love so much. Thats why the snow seen in Austin last winter is such a rare event. However the masses are around 1000 feet deep. That means the Austonian will not have significant temp differences in the winter. Just maybe a degree or two cooler durring the day.

The big difference is the wind! We only live on a 7th floor.... but even at that level, the uninterrupted wind can get crazy! I'm sure part of that depends on the side and corner of a building you live on. We live on the SW, and it can whip up a frenzy quick!

The building passed up frost and 360 right on what was predicted. Nothing has changed since then. We might see it top out at 685 but no more than that. the crane must be lower than 740. Or being so high up the optical tricks are making us think that the top is closer to that level than it realy is. Dont worry Stacy will give us a 700 footer

It doesn't feel noticeably cooler on the 41st floor of the 360 than on the ground. It can be quite windy at times. I've seen it rain up momentarily with a big gust of wind blowing up the building.

Has anyone counted the number of sections added to the crane? These sections are a standard heigth...right? This might give us a total heigth for the crane at the Austonian. Just a thought.

If just the proposals you mentioned get built, Austin's skyline will be truly awesome!

look for listings Called 21C. It is on hold. Red river and Cesar Chavez. "Upscale" Hotel that includes and Art gallery. You can peak at part of their collection (all modern) thru the windows at 6th and Congress of the closed sales center. My fav is the soft sculpture Beetle in the window!

I need to work on the Green towers some more because I've never been very happy with those models. More work to do there. And the 21C will not show up in this view because it's further off to the right.

I'm thinking the W may appear slightly taller from this vantage point (perhaps level with Frost), given its height and relative distance. I could be totally off, but just my impression.

Ranger excavating is removing junk from the Fed Courthouse site, the temporary fence has been removed. Looks like things are about to go.

Wonder if they will close San Antonio for the construction staging, since it will be closed permanently when the building is finished?

Sure a lot of folks digging around in Republic Square today too, there is a construction office/box that has been dropped there too.

Have not heard if Republic Square will be the bus transit pickup/dropoff point for the ACL Fest in October.
