(1) Current situation: M line

About 20km in length
Connects to Expo Line at Broadway
B Line going west on Broadway to UBC
Cost: about 1Billion in 2000 dollars

(2) Alternative: Broadway West Line

About 12K in length
Broadway Station to UBC
Underground most of way to UBC
B Line along Lougheed/Broadway to Broadway station
Cost: My guess is roughly the same as current M line -shorter, but more expensive to build underground

^I doubt any extension down Broadway will connect to the current infrastructure at Broadway Station. Thats why VCC-Clark was created.

satishreddy has his mind made up, even though I have already explained to him the politics behind the decisions (such as the pro-sktrain attitude of the tri-cities and the anit-skytrain attitude of the Broadway Corridor)

So who would you rather serve first, those who want it or those who will fight you ever step of the way. (costing more money and time then necessary).

Don't close the thread, let it die out naturally instead of euthanizing a perfectly good thread.

or maybe close it on Dec 31st of this year, give us a good amount of time to comment on the line and see everything take shape.

I would read over officedweller's post in the previous page.

An extension of the Expo Line along Broadway as a T-line simply isn't possible for capacity and practical reasons.

A SkyTrain extension all the way to UBC from the Millennium Line's VCC Station would cost $2.8-billion.

Anyhow, we're hours away from the inaugural Canada Line train. This is the wrong topic to be discussing this.

pretty much the same can be said for the 99 b-line. i know quite a few ppl at ubc who insist on driving along broadway cuz the 99 is just ridiculous

I'll ride it at some point. Going to Granville Island in the morning (sure wish the Skytrain went there!) and will probably just go from Downtown - Yaletown.

Most vague meeting place ever in a city like Vancouver.

In my opinion, order of priority should have been:

(1) Expo Line
(2) Broadway West -> from current Broadway station to UBC
(3) Current Canada Line
(4) Current Millenium Line
(5) Evergreen Line at some point in the future if ever
I would have to disagree to the list, I would think the Evergreen Line would rank higher, especially before Surrey, as ridership are still building up in the area (give it a few years after implementing the B-Line.. so I guess that would be the 3rd line in the list).

Another reason? Despite how the northeast sector always seems to have low transit ridership.. it have quite high cost recovery compared to other regions:
Code:
Burnaby/New West	85%	2004
Tri-Cities 64%	2004
North Shore 39%	2004
Richmond 37%	2002
P Meadows/Maple Ridge	32%	2008
South Delta/White Rock	21%	2008
* note: Estimate only, assume SkyTrain cost split at 2004 (25M Van, 30M BNW, 6M SOF), WCE split (7M TRI, 6M PMR, 1M AM), SeaBus split (3.5M Van, 3.5M NS)

Source: the last page of each old area transit plan.

Its so hard to get the cost recovery per region/route data, as TransLink is so reluctant to release them... and they are not releasing them anymore with newer ATPs...

lol, i would think that meant the Starbucks just outside of the SeaBus/WCE/SkyTrain entrance in the CPR building....assuming they haven't opened another Starbucks inside.

More and more, it seems like you'd rather see things fail just to prove a political point.
