It is almost identical to this one however

So I finally have a (mostly) rebuilt computer and have been able to download and process some of my backlog from my new Camera.

I got out on the roof instead of being lazy and shooting from inside the window, so these views from my upstairs are about as good as they get, other than a bit of atmospheric haze that evening.

This first one is 1/25th of a second, 187mm focal length, hand held. It's almost dead sharp. I'm puzzled that some of you don't see any difference using IS - for me this shot would be blurry without it. I guess it's a matter of YMMV.



Next, here is an example showing my maximum zoom 280mm with the 1.4 extender (roughly 450mm w. 1.6X crop to get back to 35mm terms)



The SE beltline - 200mm no extender. I doubt You'll see a quality difference, atmosphere has way more effect at this distance.



Next, a sunset sequence, looking to the WNW - I love the compression effect and the big ball 'o sun I can get at 280mm - I am not seeing any light bounce from the extender addition. Color me impressed.





Lastly, a few from the zoo. The 70-200 is just about the perfect zoo lens.

I'm going to have to get some morning shots at some point when the sun is shining on the Bow - I'm not a morning person, so don't expect anything anytime soon!

Nice shots there Ferreth. I think you have steadier hands than me, that shot would have been blury for me, even with IS. The extender compliments your lens nicely.

There was one of Kijiji about a month ago and I'm kicking myself for not buying it.

Don't kick yourself. I just checked the documentation for the Extender 1.4X - the 35-350 is not supported - the only zooms Canon supports are the 70-200's and the 100-400 with the 1.4 and 2X extenders. That being said, it is possible that that 35-350 might work, but you'd want to try it out in advance.

Kudos, BTW - you'll get my vote for Skyscraperpage Vigilante of the year when awards season comes around. This city needs more civic-minded people of your ilk if you ask me.

The Potain is the larger arriVa 42 one, I like how I'm above it and can get that angle on it.

Thanks. I think I'm also in the running for SSP member who is most likely to get stabbed. All people have to do is call the police when they see something shady. The police really have to do a swoop on the East Village. The drug dealing was rampant and in the open.

What happened to the 60 beat officers. There should probably be no less than 4 or 6 officers in the east end of downtown at any given time. The East Village is still mostly vacant even though construction activity has disrupted things to an extent - until there are lots and lots of people around crimes of opportunity will be rampant there.

Well there were about 5 cops at the Starbucks in Inglewood. It's a Catch-22 though. you need lots and lots of people to clean up the area, but you're not going to get lots and lots of people until you clean up the area.

The dealers I saw weren't keeping their activities very discrete and neither were their clients. Which makes me think that the cops aren't applying a lot of heat.

It shouldn't be too hard to bust these guys, they're doing business on an island for Pete's sake.
