Be sure to check out the rest of them, there's a few more. The one of the Palmer Auditorium showed it just a year after it was completed!

I'd say it is.

And re: cattle. I see what you are talking about : just about the sign on the green house on the lower right side. I think that just might be cattle in a field ! How fun is that?!!!!!

Photos from yesterday and this morning:

The old bank is gone at 5th and Brazos. But so is the backhoe, so no telling what will happen next.

Looks like the parking garage is one of those pre-fab things.

Capitol, with the new church parking garage in front, Fondren far back on the right.

No construction in this one, I just thought the clouds were cool:

Great shots as always Priller. So what's going on with the 55th floor? Is that a setback of some kind? The next setback should be above the 56th floor, I would have thought.

They're actually working on the 56th floor now.

From the Austonian web site:

Floor 55, which is the club or lounge floor:

Floor 56, the gym floor:

The most amazing thing about this picture is that I35 is still only three lanes in that area 50 years later!

OH! For some reason I thought they were still working the 55th... also forgot about the 56th floor setback. Now it all makes sense, again.

Here's a few from behind the Hobby Lobby at Brodie Oaks Shopping Center near Ben White and S. Lamar just after the sun had set tonight.

Skyline

Zoomed in a little more

Zoomed in more. (Can you imagine this view if the T. Stacy project ever got built?)

Frost, Austonian & the Ashton's crown

I know big wig Austonian people see this.

I think it is crazy that the Austonian does not have an observation area. YOu could put it in the crown on floor 57. A outside glass elevator would go to the height of the deck and because of the set back there would be a walkway into it. A small bridge like walkway. Charge 5 dollars and I know the building would make thousands a day. T shirts and souveniers also. For the idea I only ask for 1 percent of the money. That sounds resonable finders fee right? Im rich!

For what it's worth these days, the city has updated the emerging projects list.

Visible in priller's photo of the Austonian the floor they're working on has a setback, 56th floor.

Cool photo, but I have to admit I'm a little confused. If this photo is from 1959, what is that boxy building just to the left of the UT Tower? Isn't that the J. J. Pickle Federal Building? (It was built in 1965)

And what's that building just to the right and behind the Commodore Perry Hotel? Greenwood Towers? (It was built in 1966/1967)

And finally, what is that small building directly in front of the Perry Brooks Building?

also look at the car on the right its a 1961 Ford.... just kidding i wish i knew my cars well enough. The cars in the picture do seem like a late 1950's models but who knows... Its still amazing how far Austin has come.

I also don't believe that is from 59. I don't even think I-35 had 3 lanes on each side in 59. I think they added a lane on each side in the early 60's I would have to ask my mother, thats about the time that my moms family moved to Austin.
