Great idea for a thread!

I've worked a few times this summer with a woman who moved here from NYC. She was commenting today on how impressed she was by that first Herkimer building mentioned.

Actually it's on King in the Tisdale area. The nearby neighbourhood was outlined in this recent article in the Spectator; http://thespec.com/article/608636

I forgot this one, it's behind St. Joe's near the base of the mountain. Unfortunately I don't have a good picture.

Great photos, Flar! There's no monolithic critical mass to the walkup apartment blocks in Hamilton because they're tucked here and there in between the streets of detached houses, so it's easy to forget that they're there. But it's surprising just how many of them there actually are.

I also lived here:

It's definitely on Tisdale, and I remember the dirty looks I got from the people in the photo when I photographed that building.

As I was looking for these, I made a collection of old apartment buildings. I know there are tons more I didn't photograph.

Thanks Flar. What a great collection of Hamilton apartments. They look great and full of character.

It would be interesting to see if we could move this up a level and get a comparison of great Ontario apartments for comparison. I am not sure how to do that though.

^^you could start a new thread in the Ontario section, but sadly that section receives little traffic.

Definitely! It would be great to have people in different areas collaborate on something like that also - perhaps if you PM'd people from some of the other SSP sections or posted on some of them to get contributions.
