Compared to most other North American cities in the early 1 million range, Edmonton's skyline fares very well even if its tallest isn't that tall. I'd say they are a solid 5th in Canada (They still beat Ottawa IMO) but on top of that i'd say their skyline kills some of the more impressive US skylines in similar cities such as Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Louisville, OKC, Nashville, etc. even if their tallest is much shorter. Edmonton gets held to an unfair skyline standard for being in the same province as Calgary.

And one other thing, up until very recently Edmonton's tallest was about the same height as Vancouver's tallest in spite of Edmonton being less than half the metro population of Vancouver. In terms of skyline, Edmonton has nothing to be ashamed of.

are you referring to the boathouse gables? -amongst themselves?
the line of buildings in the background? do the buildings look similar?
please distinguish the two (or more) items to be compared so we might oblige you.

call me when your city doesn't have an airport overlay, with a max height of 500' at its zenith with much of it around 200', over its entire CBD

I should have expected this sort of response. Sammo, drink your coffee already. I'm talking about the buildings. Just the one picture to make it as easy for people as possible, but I guess that might backfire.

I don't get your point. Obviously, the buildings look quite similar. You have to actually focus to see the twin tower developments

if it's the buildings you speak of than in a word, yes.

the adumbration of Vancouver's skyline often reminds me of a cluster of indistinct timber piles.

lol, now please don't ask me if your ass looks big in those pants!

Abumbration? I had to look that one up. Isn't timber horizontal when piled? Whatever, you think they are indistinct. What specifically do you think makes them indistinct? My view is that most of them look unique, but only if you are at a closer distance. The tint of glass, the amount of glass, basically the style of the facade is similar in many cases. But the heights are actually different, and general shape is different.

piles, whether wood, steel, concrete, rubber(<kidding) are driven or 'piled' into the ground so they are always vertical.
In fact, piles really can't be horizontal.

I thought piles, as in a heap. So they look like wood poles at exactly the same height? Interesting.

I've always thought at first glance and from a distance, the Coal Harbour condos do look alike but at closer inspection and when one walks around the area, you can see that many are actually quite different like you said. Much more unique than say the north side of False Creek.
