See those cables running on the edge of the platform?

See them again? Those cables act as a platform door. So in other words, if SkyTrain needs platform doors, we could install cables/glasses that move vertically upwards and we wouldn't have to figure out door location issues with the MK I and MK II vehicles.

Cost efficient, and it would resolve the whole door location problem, but they look absolutely ridiculous. It could also use a two or three more ropes for additional height.
The main problem with our system is not accidents, but suicides. I believe there have been 50 deaths on the system; 50 were suicides and the remaining were 5 were accidents.
So really, those ropes would do absolutely nothing to resolve our problem...nor would it increase the reliability of SkyTrain significantly by preventing any suicides, unless those wires are electrified and someone who touches it will be knocked unconscious and would fall back onto the platform and not onto the tracks.
Not to mention, i sure wouldn't want to be caught under those when it comes down. I'm almost certain that they aren't sensorized to pull back when it hits something like elevator doors, glass platform doors, or even SkyTrain doors.
BTW, those trains are sooooo Rotem. They're probably the same model as the Canada Line trains, except for some variations: overhead door supply, exterior sliding doors, and driver cabins. They also look like the exact same trains that were delivered to Rio de Janeiro 3 years ago.
