The only stations that should be definitely built in my mind somewhere down the road are 33rd Avenue and YVR2.

In the 2nd video that deasine posted about the C-Line tour mentioned that Capstan will most likely be the first future station to be built. It makes perfect sense, especially if that area will be redeveloped (and it has a very high potential once the economy improves again), with great connection to the Sexsmith park-and-ride.

As a side note, I really don't understand why the Bridgeport park-and-ride has to be $2 per car parked. I was thinking of parking there and transfer to the C-Line whenever I go to downtown, but now I'll probably stick with the Sexsmith one (another reason why Capstan station should be built soon whenever there's extra money available)

Oh right, i forgot about the Capstan development. I understand that there's some developments going on at 57th Avenue, but for the sake of Canada Line travel times please don't build a station there. If I wanted to stop and go along the whole way, I'd take the bus.

I think Capstan should be built when the development is built. That area will have a very high density and the station will be popular.

YVR 2 will be needed when the terminal expands. Going all the way to where YVR1 is from the edge of the new terminal will be so far, especially with luggage. A lot of people will use YVR2 to access the international terminal.

But, 57th is not needed, and neither is 33rd. There is nothing of interest within reasonable walking distance of either of those stations. It's just not dense enough. Existing Stations are not a long bus ride from those locations. Those 2 stations would slow down the train too much and make it over a 30 minute end to end travel time.

The only reason to build those stations is if there is an Earthquake and Richmond disappears, making travel time from Richmond a moot point.

From the schedule posted, they both seems to be 25min long:
From YVR, leave at :17, :37, :57, arrive at WF at :02, :22, :42
From Richmond, leave at :08, :28, :48, arrive at WF at :13, :33, :53

I wonder why it has a 9-11-9-11min headway instead of a uniform 10min between trains...

Bridgeport Park and Ride would replace it right?

I read from one of the files that the Bridgeport Park and Ride would initially offer 610 parking spots.

the new transit map effective Sept 09 shows that Sexsmith park_n_ride is still available.

People can park there , hop on 407. 430, or even 480(if has space) to Bridgeport, and change to Canada Line

Sexsmith is an excellent park-and-ride. A lot of times when I go to downtown, I drive to the park-and-ride and then walk over to No.3/Capstan and take 98. I also did that sometimes when I used to take the 480 to UBC. Overall, that lot get used A LOT, especially during the school year.

I hope it's not closed down in the future. But I still don't understand why a new park-n-ride lot is not built closer to Richmond-Brighouse Station. It's going to be a lot of hassle for residents from the Steveston area to drive up to Bridgeport (and still have to pay to park). For them, it's quite far. I think a significant number of them will still drive to downtown to work because of this. Transit planners would say that those lots are not needed because they're focusing on TOD, but then a lot of residents still live outside of those TOD zones in Metro Van and they needed good and convenient park-n-rides.

I think for the C-Line park-n-rides should be built at (Besides Bridgeport):
- Lansdowne (there's not much room at Richmond-Brighouse)
- Marine (for South Van residents)

Also for E-Line (Besides Scott Rd), additional park-n-rides should be built at:
- Edmonds (for residents living in the New West/Burnaby border area)
- And at Braid (to serve Maillardville residents)

The Canada Line at Richmond City Centre or even Lansdowne will be busy enough as is with one train coming every 8-minutes. Given how most people value time, I think they would rather drive up to Bridgeport and take the train where it comes every 3-4 mins.

Canada Line offers fare break from August opening until 2010

TransLink revealed Friday that passengers taking the Canada Line between downtown Vancouver and the Vancouver International Airport will get a reduced fare during the first four months of operation.

Spokesman Drew Snider said those passengers will be able to use their regular TransLink passes to use the service - which will commence in late August.

"TransLink and ProTrans (the concessionaire operating the Canada Line) have agreed to defer implementation of the Canada Line-YVR Add Fare until 2010," Snider said.

"Customers will have the opportunity to ride this impressive stretch of elevated track, with views of the mountains to the north and the Gulf Islands to the west, for the price of a regular ticket."

TransLink had previously stated it would offer free rides on day one and after that it would cost $6.25 to take the Canada Line -A $2.50 premium on top of the two-zone, $3.75 trip between Richmond and Vancouver.

The premium will be now implemented on Jan. 1, 2010.

The $2-billion Canada Line is B.C's largest transportation project. The exact opening date has not been revealed.

Capstan is on hold because the developer for that area has pulled out of their planned multi-complex development. Once such a development goes forward then Capstan might again be a reality, but I think a cost-sharing agreement will be required to build the station in the future.

As for 57th and 33rd, not sure about those babies, but would be much more difficult to add since they are underground. Do we really need a station at 33rd and 57th anyways? LOL

I thought I read that Translink had sold, or is trying to sell the Sexsmith P&R. Anyone know?
