I'm actually a bit of licence plate geek/spotter/casual collector so seeing the holy grail of US plates, the Hawaii plate, was quite the thrill!
I've seen a few campers from Europe driving around, too. That's always pretty cool...

As posted in the Canada section

Had an opportunity to hop aboard a boat that my dads' firm had chartered while I was in Vancouver for the weekend. Enjoy... Sorry for the quality, all pix taken with a crappy point & shoot.

Bowen Island trip

Went to Bowen island on Saturday to do some light hiking. Remembered to take the camera but of course forgot to take batteries, so I only got a few shots before it died. Anyways did the Killarney Lake Loop and then up to Mt. Gardner, easy enough for any able bodied person and worth the few hours it takes.

Leaving Horseshoebay

At Killarney Lake

Camera died just after this pic

Next time I remember my camera I'll have fresh batteries.

Well, the few pics you had turned out great!
The only time I've travelled to Bowen Island was right after my camera died so I only had a crappy film disposable camera...

I live under the big round tree in the middle. The flagpole is in the front lawn.

Great pics as always. How are you liking living on the island? I always loved visiting Bowen but I can't imagine living there.

Thanks! So far I'm loving it. I feel I'm way outside of my comfort zone of friends, family, and familiar surroundings, but I can also appreciate not being around them! I'm used to living on the 6th floor, so it is a nice change to step outside into the yard and see deer.
The house I'm renting belonged to a 94 year old man who died in the house last summer (I can't use his bedroom which is piled with junk) and his family is deciding what to do with the property.
My friend who found me the house and who lives around the corner (and is away in Calgary), thinks the lot is worth $1 million so I guess I won't be buying it if it goes up for sale, but I do fantasize about living here full time.
I signed up as a volunteer for Bowfest on August 29, which should be fun!

Fantasmic! Shangri-la looks good but why didn't they tint the glass? It looks stupid that you can see the blinds closed in some windows, and open in others. It looks like a hurricane ripped through and smashed out a bunch of windows.
