At least this one has a better proportioned crown than some other not-to-mentioned neighbors. I like this one. It works well for it's area in the city. It has enough details and well done precast. It extends the skyline a bit more northwest. The courtyard area is sweet. Yea, not so bad.
I do wish the window frames would have stayed black, but the white is liveable. Makes it seem clean and light at least. I'm also very happy with its' proportions as well. Not a fan of those super close balconies though. The regular ones are great but the ones in the middle look tacky.
Will the precast look weathered at all? Will it look good weathered? I think that's what will help this building in the long term...good weathering.
I used to defend this building because from the renders I thought it'd be a nice addition. Now seeing the almost finished project I'm sorry I ever did. This thing looks awful. Whoever thought those white window frames were a good idea needs to have their head examined. The only decent angle I've seen is the one looking straight up from the last page.
Took a walk around last night. This thing is actually pretty decent.... compared to the dreadful, malproportioned, cheap-materialed, contextually-aloof turd that is 10 East Delaware. God that thing is atrocious. It makes Elysian look like the next Inland Steel.
Can City Council pass an ordinance forbidding Lucien Lagrange from ever designing another Chicago building as punishment for 10 East Delaware, or would that be unconstitutional?
