Olympic sponsor Air Canada unveils huge Games ad on Boeing 777
It's one of the biggest shows on earth, so why not have one of the biggest ads to promote the Vancouver 2010 Games?
Olympic sponsor Air Canada officially unveiled its Olympic-themed airplane Wednesday, a behemoth of a Boeing 777 painted in bright Games colours and images.
Air Canada's Chief Executive Officer Calin Rovinescu called the Olympic plane an unparalleled advertising opportunity in a tough economic climate.
The airline is one of several major Games sponsors struggling in the current economy and is seeking to earn millions of dollars to bolster its bottom line.
Much of the airline's contribution to the Olympics will be in services, such as a new program giving athletes the same perks as first-class customers.
The Olympic plane will be used for long-haul trips, potentially on routes between Europe and Vancouver that would be added specifically for the Games.

at 11:25 AM ETGee Air Canada... way to go all out! You need to take a few lessons from other carriers who know how to properly dress up a large airliner. That advertisement looks cheap and simply tacked on without much thought or effort.
Considering your financial condition, was this really a suitable use of money?575Agree 7DisagreePolicy Report abuseDuckDodgers24.5 wrote:

at 9:43 AM ETSoooo ... all Air Canada passengers are now unwilling or unwitting promoters of the 2010 Games?
Who's going to see it at 31,000 feet?
Pathetic ... Advertising for an egotistical, corrupt, socially parasitic event ... typical Air Canada ... any way to make a buck.
it looks ridiculous,it may get denied entry in other countries though.
If Air Canada thinks that ads promoting the Olympics is going to save its rear, then they truly underestimate the hatred Canadians have for this airlin or the power of word of mouth.
GOOD GRIEF PEOPLE! Whats wrong with you? What is wrong with an airline or any business for that matter trying to make a buck. That is the reason business are there, to make a profit.
