As a African American Tulsan we alway addressed Oklahoma City as the "CITY" supporting your point that Oklahoma City is larger than Tulsa ,
but never considered it as a city that dominated Tulsa...because Tulsa was
the 'Peacock"... , and Oklahoma City was the 'Ugly Duckling' that turned
into a "Swan"...Tulsa had all of the "World Class Venues" Philbrook Museum
and Gilcrease Museum....and the Topography of Tulsa Mountains..which were
really the tall hills in the Tulsa Metro Area..more "Beautiful "Lakes" than you
could shake a stick at and the "Arkansas River Park" and was Known as the
"Oil Capital Of The World" and the "Cleaniest City In American".
The 'Ugly Duckling" voted in the "MAPS" (Urban Renewal Project) in the 1990"S
at which time Oklahoma City became the "Beautiful White Swan" and Trumped
Tulsa the "Peacock"...Tulsa was created by "Rich Oil Barons' that gave it "Art
Deco" and "Skyscrapers Galore" ..."Philbrook and Gilcrease Museum" and all the
other "Whistlers and Bells"..that Tulsa enjoyed from being the 'Oil Capital Of
The World.
Philly is larger than Pittsburgh PA and has more output , but Pittsburgh has
a greater "Reputation" than Philly in the "Eye's" of most American and maybe
Tulsa will follow in it's footsteps 'Who's Knows"....
My Auntie and Uncle and Cousins live in Midwest City Oklahoma and when I was in Oklahoma on my vacation in 2000 and saw "The Bricktown Canal" I almost (Cried) I couldn't beleive that Oklahoma Built Something So Classy.
Then Oklahoma got the "New Orleans Oklahoma City Hornest" and I puffed
out my chest a little bit farther , then OKC got the Thunder and became a
Second Tier American City.
When The Devon Project Is Built I Might Almost Cry Again.....and I'm pulling
for Oklahoma City and I'm proud of Okalhoma City and Praying For It's Success
, but Tulsa will alway be My Best Loved City in Oklahoma if not the Greatest
and Pittsburgh PA will alway be the Majority Of American Most Loved City
if Not The So Called Number One City In PA.
