What are they going to do about parking since there's none under this building? Are they going to do any of the hardscape (like the big staircase shown to the left of this building in the renderings) at this stage?

They will build the podium, on top of which will be the elevated plaza and under which will be the parking. Although the city will only allow them to open the number of spaces in relation to the existing number of units. the rest will be roped off.

I took a picture today of a window/skin being installed. The wind was causing the workers a lot of trouble as the panels were turing in the wind very fast. Usually they are quick to get them into place, but today was a very bad day.

From the time the window panels (they are 2 stories high) are released from the crane it takes the workers 60 seconds to put them in place! Amazingly fast.

I noticed this week scaffolding at the top of Sangiaccomo's office building between 7th & 8th Sts. on Market St. If my memory serves me correctly he applied for a permit to raise the height of the buiding by about 25 feet. I could not locate the information in my search - maybe one of you guys knows the facts.

I have heard that he has a home atop the building - rumor or fact?

Hey can anyone tell if those are 8 ft or 9 ft ceilings? I imagine they would be 8 ft - but its hard to tell.

Wait - the building is 240ft tall and its 24 floors, so that 10 ft... but how thick is the floor... They really need to let me in there to look around an measure so I can pick out my furniture.

The end is near for the completion of the exterior. The windows and walls of the last two floors should be completed soon with the utility floors to follow.

The building, depending on the time of day and whether or not cloudy or sunny, takes on a gray color or blue color - I like that.

This thing rally went up fast. It doesn't seem like that long ago I saw them pulling soil samples. Nice updates, guys.

It was like watching a child grow up the last year. I will miss following the progress, but will be glad to see the building in my view finished.

About two more pictures will be it for this baby. Next year Phase II?

I hope they are at least well into demolishing the old Market St. building by this time next summer. I have some hope that this will proceed in spite of the current economy because Mr. Sangiocomo seems to have sources of funds, he is building (relatively) low cost rental housing that is still in very tight supply in San Francisco, and it seems reasonable to anticipate that by 2012 or whenever such a building might be finished the recession would be over.

Meanwhile, even though you can't see it, they apparently still have the podium (with parking) to complete on the first phase and the last time I was over there a couple weeks ago there was still no sign of this. I'm still interested in how it will be configured and exactly what they will build at this stage (I don't understand how they could build the entire podium now while the old buildings exist). However they do it, it will make a substantial difference as to the street-level appearance of the first phase while it stands alone.

Of course. including before and after the new furniture. Now I just noticed something though. You know how at some point during the design phase they decided to turn the studios into what are essentially one beds- or Jr one beds - by installing what is sometimes called a pony wall ( not the correct term) right down the middle between the two 6x6 windows... creating two spaces roughly 8x13 for living and bed. No wall means we'll be able to fit the hot tub in the corner after all!

My dreams of a danger zone themed floor perhaps aren't as doomed as we thought. Now Native we just have to figure out who is on the seniority list ahead of us and what apartments they are in currently. ...for presents and hugs of course.
