IMO, Dexter Avenue would be one of those streets that could be closed down to all traffic all the time and could be really successful as an entertainment district. Just saying...

Closed to traffic is not an option for upper Dexter, because of all the cross streets relaying traffic between Madison Avenue & I-85.

Lower dexter has been closed to traffic in a sense because of the round-a-bout, & I'd expect this area to have some places open, but right now the Alleyway/Riverfront is the main center of new venues.

Actually it is just the opposite.

Court Square is now OPEN to traffic all around the round-a-bout including the option to head south on Court Street from Court Square. Much better to have moving traffic than stagnant concrete. This area can certainly be closed off for special occasions, but at all other times I prefer to see the traffic moving through that area...

It's hard to imagine all the traffic lights that were there before returning it to a round-a-bout.

I heard this morning on john and barry show that Sa Za's was opening soon. of course it looks like it might be open within a few weeks.

I guess it was just a poor choice of words. I was basing it off the fact that the intersection is now a 4-way stop with a Pedestrian right-of-way, instead of a 4way lighted intersection. To me, this is somewhat of a close-off to traffic.

I agree he really did not tell us nothing unlike congressman bright when he was mayor those conversations were great i also don't feel the excitement in the mayor's voice about our great city don't get me wrong he is doing a good job, but i get the feeling that he does not think we are as im,portant as huntsville,birmingham, and mobile which bothers me. bobby always thought we were the best big city in this state i don't get that feeling from todd, just saying. Yea Sa Za's and Wintzell's should be open within the next two months.

Baumhower's is coming to the RSA Headquarters building. They will serve breakfast, lunch and supper. No opening date yet, but probably sometime in December. The breakfast will be Alabama Grown featuring ALAGA syrups and hot sauces, and Evergreen's Concecuh Sausage. Jimmy Deans will also be served. The lunch and supper menus will be the same as Baumhower's Wings.

I know this is better then nothing, but I had heard over and over agin that Chappy's Deli was going to open a location there. I would have preferred that over Baumhower's.

I do like the Alabama grown angle they are pushing... good idea!

For some reason the Chappy's Deli fell through. To be honest, I would have preferred Chappy's myself. But if Baumhowers is going to offer breakfast I can deal with it. I also heard there will be a bar in Baumhower's but no confimation on that.

Yes the Staycation has been successful both nights were a blast. I have enjoyed it immensely. Looking forward to Biscuits Baseball and double fireworks tomorrow on Independence Day. Happy Independence Day mdf fam.

I don't blame them. I guess they want to be where the action is. Their great sandwiches would be a good addition for the Alley.

BTW, I think there's room for a Five Guys down there.
