I am not afraid of heights and I was struck by how those photos made my knees weak. I think the undulating quality is the cause. Looking at those photos - seems like you could feel really hanging, floating. shiver

Everytime I'm in my kitchen I always think to myself, "Gee I wish I had a five foot tall mirror hanging on my wall."

Mirrors are used to make small spaces seem larger. It may not make a difference for you, but for people who are claustrophobic, it is a small relief.

I know someone did this earlier in the thread, but I just had to once again use an example from Being John Malkovich, hehehehe...

Yea I know, I still think it's tacky in a kitchen though, but I realize it's only the hotel portion, so they try to make the illusion that it is larger than it actually is.

I was just thinking about the issue of street and general city noise (especially HVACs on top of neighboring buildings) and was thinking that maybe another added benefit of all these huge balconies might be the deflection of some of that noise away from the glass, especially higher up. Do you guys think that these balconies will have much of a positive effect in this manner?

That's certainly an interesting concept. I also wonder if it might have an adverse effect by creating a bit of an echo-y space between the floors.

It would be so exciting to check out the amenities on the 52nd and 53rd floors! This may also seem weird, but I wonder what the elevators in the building will look like, I wonder that about almost all highrises though. May seem strange, but it's always kind of been an interest of mine.
