Maybe I'm just biased because I liked Keenan as a coach before he came to Calgary, but I don't think Keenan was a mistake. Could we have done better? Yes. Should we have done better? Yes. However, the coach can only go so far with the product thats on the ice. Thats not saying we have a bad team, thats just saying that there were a host of issues that caused the Flames a long playoff run this year. Be it goaltending or injuries, or a bad defense, what have you. Very little, if any, of the factors that had to do with our first round exit had to do with Keenan.
So often we scapegoat the coach. Just because he's the easiest to ditch when the team goes south. Better the coach than the combined $11.5 million we're spending on our two top defencemen or our $7.5 million star goaltender...
