Yes on the horizon is Vancouver Island (particularly the higher elevation area to the right) and the Gulf Islands/San Juan Islands. Vancouver Island is normally visible from any shore on the mainland, even without being on top of a mountain.

Here are a couple pics I took from the shore in Richmond a month or so ago:

Metro Vancouver is getting dense.

That uptown Toronto pic is nice. Cool to see more colour and glass in the mix.

A large amount of downtown Winnipeg's skyline is featured in this shot with the Manitoba Legislative building at front center.
