Those are beautiful, priller. I've been wondering what the view looks like from the mall and from Zilker Clubhouse.
And Spring is looking really good. I love that it's not brown like so many of our other highrises.

I noticed the other day that over at the Gables project, they've started putting the stone facade on the lower floors. That'll contrast nicely with all that glass from Spring when viewed from the south shore of Lady Bird Lake.

Lightbulb Austin Classic Photos?

What relaxing views from the Barton Creek Mall and the Zilker Clubhouse.
The clouds and light make it even better!
Skyline shots aren't the best when cranes are around and buildings are un-completed. But when everything quiets down, check out the Austonian and the W Hotel! Should the photos be a classic?

First, one shot of the crane coming down at the Spring. Awesome light this morning, makes the photo look like a rendering almost
Spent about 20 minutes watching the crane from the Whole Foods playscape area last night. Saw two guys doing the looooong climb down...

Anybody know what's up with the plywood on the windows at the top?

Alain Robert, the French Spiderman! As he attempts to climb Austin's tallest building, the Austonian at 683 feet! As he goes....

Cool

Does anybody know why this night rendering of the Austonian appears so bright and so white at the crown? Explain. It is brighter than the first night rendering of the Austonian came under way.

good observation. I imagine that it's quasi-realistic. This will dominate the skyline during the daytime, and hopefully at night, too.

I certainly hope it's lit up brightly at night. It's mostly glass, they should be able to light it up nicely from the inside.

I think because it is mostly glass it should be lit well from the inside with the lights on in peoples homes but the crown will definatly look nice lit up. What I do want to know is on one of the newest renderings I found of the close up of the crown, it almost looked as if it had some neon lighting tubes arching around the sides of it. If they plan to do that and if they are bright enough to stand out from the lighting inside the crown, that should make for a very impressive lighting scheme.

My guess is because it is a rendering and they want to make it look as appealing as possible.... and stand out as much as possible. Remember renderings are done to appeal to clients. Think of them as "hyper-real". Not realistic.

At least if he fell he would have a chance of landing in the pool. Also I would expect it to be lit atleast as bright as the crown of frost bank. And also I think a Texas flag would look great atop the spire of 360. Oops that sounds a bit redneck.

Cool The Chance Of Landing In A Pool Is...

Well, he would have a small chance of landing on the pool, possibly 10-19%.
And if he lands belly down, that would really hurt.
He might just get arrested before even going up there. Hope he doesn't.

Well, it's a nice idea to have the Texas flag on the spire of 360, but, yeah, it sounds redneck, actually really redneck.

And thanks to Downtown_Austin, priller, Jdawgboy, MichealB, and Strayone for answering my question.

One word explains the Austonian's transparency/lighting...Voyeurism! The people living there will have to leave their shades up all day and night so people can see what life style they could be living! It will be worth it!

Actually, having a rebel flag up there, now that would be really redneck. I don't think there's anything redneck about liking the Texas flag though. I think San Antonio's skyline looks good with the Texas and American flags it has.

I totally agree... it adds character, nothing wrong with that.

Also agreed. I always liked the flags on top of Austin's Wells Fargo building, as well.
