the intersection of 200 South and Main Street could have easily been known as the theater district because you would have been able to see all three theaters from that point. I'd be careful about designating areas of the city to only one use. Mixed use is the key to a vibrant city.

It's sort of hard to classify that as the financial district, sure you've got US Bank on the corner, along with Chase, and then Wells Fargo one block down, but then you have Zions and Key up north on the CCC block. So while it is a nice financial cluster two very big boys aren't located there.

Just because you call it a "financial district" doesn't mean that is all that can be there. I mean, the Financial District in San Fran is far more than just financial institutions.

I didn't mean that you couldn't have other things in the financial district, I was simply pointing out that it would be a stretch to call it the financial district when two Major banks are several blocks north.

First of all, SLC's downtown is way too small to say one area is the financial district. In Manhattan, for example, the financial district is 4 miles away from the theatre district. SLC's downtown isn't even a mile across.

Second, if the new Broadway theatre had gone where 222 is, it'd be across the street from the Capitol Theatre.

The rear facade of 222 is really starting to come together.

Good grief. You're out of school for two weeks and construction starts picking up the pace all of the sudden.

I think he means the lack of traffic. Nobody's going to be on Main Street in a car anyway. It's under construction and it's Memorial Day.

Stone work on bottom floors

Can't remember if this has been noted, but I was in downtown today and noticed that they have a good share of the stone on the bottom three floors set. Looks nice, but not my favorite; I'll give it the benefit of the doubt though until it is done; after all the rest of the building is beautiful.

Thanks T-Mac, That top crown is going to be a real beauty when lit at night. I'm already anxious to see what Hamilton has up their sleeve for their next project. Wait... I hope that Hamilton and Safdie get the bid on the new Theatre.
