how about shifting to #100 bus @ 22nd station and take that to marine drive station (Canada line)?

#100 from 22nd -> marine drive station ~ 25minutes

skytrain from 22nd -> waterfront ~25minutes

i think you should consider the peak time... maybe 25 minutes - 40 minutes?

Today, while driving to the airport to pick a friend up, I saw one of the trains driving by crossing Bridgeport onto No. 3 Road. Apparently my friend saw the same thing later in the day. Must be some tests.

Heh, they're testing these trains on a daily basis. It's like a tease everytime I see them running. Just let me on already, can't wait another 3 months.

Not just paving... they need to definitely repaint some of the lines.

I notice that metro-Vancouver is horrible for lane markings in general, they are often extremely faded or non existent. We need way more cat eyes and other road markers. The roads in Japan, Europe and the USA all have way better road markings (from what i have experienced). In Japan some of the center lanes on extremely curvy roads actually had LED lights in them! In Seattle and Tacoma many lanes markers are not pain but physical studs in the roads. And in Europe some freeway speed signs are electronic and change depending on road conditions! (why is canada so slow on such innovations?)

this may be a scapegoat response but maybe it's because we have sooo many roads to maintain but such a small population?

The south coastal area and the southern interior is definitely populated enough that we can not use that as an excuse, considering many roads are under local jurisdictions.

I think that depends what you are doing. Picking somebody up? Sure, you drive anyway. If you are going somewhere, you have to factor ridiculous parking into the equation.

I went away with my gf recently for 5 days, it was equal to take a cab vs. park in long term parking, which is something like $11.75/day now with taxes.

Next trip we will take transit (we live near a station), for less than half the total cost.

I agree. Another thing to consider...

If you're going on a trip somewhere and want to save by take transit from Surrey, spending the extra 10 minutes to go by train via downtown is a much better proposition than the 10 minutes you'll save by taking multiple buses, especially if you have luggage. Lugging the luggage on the bus isn't that fun.

In addition, the Airport's bus stop is in a kind of awkward location near the domestic terminal (especially if you're travelling to the US or internationally)... you'll make up that 10 minutes in just the shorter walk alone.

Actually, that brings up a question... will ALL buses going to the Airport now terminate at Bridgeport? There are destinations like the South Terminal that are served by buses and won't be served by the train.

I'm sure buses will still run to the airport but some routes will get cut due to the Canada Line. They really need to extend the M-Line soon so that the M-Line crosses the C-Line at City Hall.

That would make my airport commute a lot faster (and eliminate a transfer), but I can't see that in any form of operation until at least 2016.

Maybe it will be built in stages though, which might make it happen a little sooner.

There will be no buses to the main terminals - Canada Line will be the sole transit option to the airport terminals. The only problem I have with this is the decision to charge a premium fare for taking the Canada Line to the airport. I don't mind premium fares if there are alternatives, but when there isn't it is an unfair cash grab. I hope and think it will be a short lived and unpopular decision. It's an example of how in North America we still don't ghet it when it comes to providing transit to our airports.

There will still be buses to South Terminal running out of Bridgeport Station.
